HONOR Magic V3

This is the latest foldable screen Smart Phone from HONOR. Instead of the idea of a tiny phone enlarging to normal size this offering from HONOR starts as normal size and opens like a normal book to increase to double the size.

In its folded condition the HONOR Magic V3 measures 15.5x7x1.5cm the last figure at the 4.5cm round 3 cameras and flash unit on its back. Open it so the camera is now on the right back and its 14.5cm wide this gives a diagonal imperial measurement of very close to 8 inches. Its weight is only a little more than most standard phones at 237 grams.

As with all recent Smart Phones it is all about the cameras and here how well images and videos will show across the fold, here it is perfect you really struggle to know there is a fold, sound from the videos is also excellent.

So now the facts, this model is FCP-N49 with Magic OS 8.01 and Android 14. The processor is a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. It has 12GB RAM plus 12GB HONOR RAM Turbo. It has 512GB RAM. The resolutions are 2376x1060 pixels when closed and 2344x2156 pixels when open.

Now on to the cameras it has a 50MP wide camera f1.6, a 50MP Telephoto f3.0 and a 40MP ultra wide f2.2. The front camera is 20MP f2.2. Video resolution is 3640x2169 pixels. The focus mode is up to 100x digital zoom.

The cameras battery is 5150mAh which will give around seven hours continuos watching and for most using it for a range of uses easily a day between charges.

Images can be captured in as little as .6 and video down to .7 this is great when capturing a large group in a room of narrow depth is required.

It has dual SIMs so ideal for those using it for both work and home use.

The screen is better than Magic V2 and this also has wet weather use which V2 did not.

Going around the outside when closed has the volume control on the front half and slightly lower on the back half the on/off button. The base has USB 'C' and microphone on the back half with the rather good speaker on the front half. The left side is clear as that is the hinge. The top has speaker on the front half as well as SIMs entry point.

While I know I am one of rapidly diminishing number who turn phones off at night, this might encourage more to as it only takes 12 seconds to boot up.

Watching captured videos with the unit open is a joy at nearly 14x8cm but a flick of finger and thumb apart on the screen can view in more detail most of the display full screen and you are able to select which part you close in on around 13.5cm square.

This is possibly the best smart phone I have reviewed and is certainly the best open book smart phone as when the screen is open there is no hinge noticeable down the centre of the screen.

The HONOR Magic V3 is available from the Deal Monday site for £1299.
