This Braun hair dryer measures 21cm long by 20cm tall and 8cm wide at the back as little as 4.5cm wide at the front without the supplied diffuser fitted. It weights 780grams.
All the controls are on the inside of the handle and are rubberised, nearest the base is the speed control, off, one and two. Either of the speeds are likely to disturb any false hair or wigs. Next a minus button and above that a plus button these are for heat. Finally two unmarked buttons that are more under the junction of handle and body of the unit, these are described as cold buttons.
This is of course an AC product and comes with a near six foot mains lead; remember the output can be as much as a two bar electric fire at 2000watts.
Certainly not a toy for a young child but I am pleased to say the mesh on the back when air is pulled in is tiny and even on the front without any attachments fitted is only 5mm wide between bars.
Finally for the controls a red LED heat bar is either side to tell you how hot or not the output is, this is red or blue.
Accessories provided are a nozzle and a diffuser.
When I first tried it I was almost literally blown away as I flicked the switch fully over and by default it seemed to be on the hottest control which for anyone will be hot and for a man without a full head of hair likely to feel uncomfortably extremely quickly.
The morale is of course is RTFM ‘read the @£”$%^& manual’ which explains the parts with numbers on page three and like so many these days is multi language so page 7-8 has the explanations.
Without the nozzle or diffuser fitted I found other uses for it on cold winter evening – warming my bed – and cold mornings with an extension lead – to carefully thaw the car windscreen – I am sure there are others especially if anyone gets a slightly frozen pipe but I will stick with its intended use as a hair dryer.
For anyone with thinning hair the lower air flow and warm air will do the drying part quickly and efficiently. Maybe those with long hair will appreciate the nozzle and to be honest I have not needed a diffuser which for those with thin hair looks like an instrument of torture but ladies with long and thick hair will probably appreciate its attention.
There are two models mentioned in the manual the HD 780 and HD 785 only the latter has the diffuser.
