WiFi and Broadband... a couple of techno-irritations
A couple of months ago I upgraded the kit; a new WiFi enabled laptop and a new desktop PC. Broadband connected. Extra kit for WiFi in the home/office. Problems... the WiFi clashed withthe Broadband causing the PC to crash - Blue Screenss regularly. Reinstalling with assistance by the WiFi kit suppliers enabled the two machines to 'ping' each other, but I still could not share files. The Blue Screen continued.
One of the suggestions was that to enable file sharing I should disable the antivirus software. Really? With the number of viruses and hackers around that there are, would a sane individual really do that?
The solution so far is to turn off the WiFi on the desktop, connect to Broadband - then it doesn't crash - and restart WiFi. But I am still no nearer sharing files and the Broadband connection via the desktop. I have not yet achieved the target of sharing files and connection, and there is a limit to the amount of time I can spend trying to fix the kit which alleges, according to the packaging, that it really is easy.
It isn't, there are conflicts, the technical experts have not been able to solve them.
Let's have a little more honesty and clarity about the technical wizardry. And if you can think of possible solutions let me know.
