A truly portable DAB radio that can run for the best part of the day on a single charge on its built in battery. Now could this be a true portable DAB radio.
I have reviewed a couple of small DAB radios but they both used standard batteries. Now technology has improved, battery drain is less and above all the earpieces that form the aerial have improved and the unit is far more useable in a whole range of environments. It is 11x6.5x2cm and weights less than 150grams. The centre on the right side is where the excellent Sennheiser earbuds fit.
Currently a large box is blocking my hallway, the content of which is the subject of this review.
One thing you can say straight away about the Brother DCP 8060 unit is that it is not a shrinking violet with regards to its presence in your working environment. Alright there are several larger units available but the DCP 8060 is big enough for me.
I am no chess expert, but I first played at school some many years ago, I never really progressed beyond the basics, normally I can manage to avoid fools mate but with this package I should improve.
Time for some fun with the help of a chameleon.
Strange how some things pass you by, HP made a big thing of the ability to write on CDs or DVD using lasers, not that long after all HP CD and DVD drives are being made by Lite-On.
Firstly what is LightScribe, it is the ability for the laser that writes the CD/DVD to also write or draw on the reverse of the drive - the side that may normally get a felt pen or even a label attached to it. Currently this is only mono but I am told that there are coloured discs about but even these only remove the top colour to expose the one below so if the surface was green with a yellow coating below the text or image would be in yellow.
Fancy a chance to explore the ruins of Atlantis then solve the puzzles presented by this game.
Often you buy a printer for text with the fact that it can print photos is an extra. With the Canon Pixma IP6220D its the other way round, this is a excellent photo printer.
It is a small and smart enclosure at 42x26x15 the latter increases by another 15cm when paper is stored in the 'sit up and beg' vertical position at the rear of the unit. This is a four ink - two cartridge - solution and that makes the printing quality and speed even more unusual.
Is the more expensive Siemens phone all that it is cracked up to be and worth the extra money? Andrew Taylor has used this for three months and now gives his opinion.
This is a mini-review to give you some idea of what you will get, using a high end DECT phone system. Although priced at a little over a hundred pounds, this DECT phone has a tremendous amount going for it. Before getting into the nitty-gritty, let me give you an overall view of the setup. The phone comes in three parts.
No man is an island according to John Donne and Tony Ellis is obviously of a similar opinion especially when it comes to his stick people.
From the same company that makes the excellent DigiFusion dual tuner unit with hard disc, this is a basic Freeview box at a basic price.
Installation should be a case of putting the batteries in the remote, connecting the aerial and plugging in the main lead. I did this but only the red light appeared on the Fusion box. I then checked the remote batteries and tried two different sets with the same response. I then unplugged the unit and plugged in again and this time pressed the button on the remote straight away and everything was fine.
Managing your digital music can be simplied with a title such as Helium Music Manager.
In shape rather like the 4355 (published 21/7/06) however it does not have the phone handset. In fact several things are a poor comparison.
When closed the is 40x19x15cm. Add paper and open the various shelves to allow copying and the figures are vastly different at 40x34x37cm. I found it weighed around 3.8kilos. Paper is stored flat in the base and once printed it is delivered face up on top of this. HP Officejet 4315 Like the this is a page feed scanner and while this works well it does mean that anything in a book or magazine cannot be copied.
Howzat! For the umpires decision on this new electronic cricket game read on.
Yes I do mean wireless, not just no aerial lead, no mains lead either and it will work at any angle you require, so you can even have it sitting on the bed beside you if you so wish.
This is a 15inch TV that supports any channels that your main TV can support and that can include the DVD player and VCR if you wish. I have used this wireless offering around 16 paces (and four concrete walls) away from the main set. It is stated to work up to 35metres away, but my property is not big enough to test it at that distance.
An alternative to the 'big name' PC manufacturers, we've been very impressed with this laptop from UK supplier Novatech.
My wife has been using my hand-me-down Toshiba notebook for a couple of years now. I tend to give notebooks a pretty hard time so it wasn't in the best of states when she got it. It is now 6 years old, and the kids have managed to break the key-top from the letter 'I'. I really had little choice but to find a replacement! Having had a less than happy experience with my last purchase of a laptop from Dell I wanted to try out someone else.
Personal laser printers are now available at sub £100 price points. One example is the LaserJet 1018 from HP.
Thinking about it, there is one particular job that I would not fancy tackling due to the heavy work load. That would be the task of keeping a check on all the various printers developed, currently and in the past, by Hewlett Packard. With the number of years that the company has been in the printer manufacturing business, there has to be a sizeable number that would need to be catalogued.
This is under the banner of Ability software, a company that has been around for almost as long as the PC. We all know how vital Backups are, is this easy enough for people to do them?
comes on a CD in a DVD case, I installed it in three minutes and it used only a few megabytes of hard disc. I tend to Backup to an external USB drive and on the test machine that gets the drive letter of 'E'. When I first looked the choices were to the 'C' drive or to the 'D' drive and that is my DVD drive.
A mobile phone is no longer judged solely on its telephony merits; PDA, photographic and entertainment aspects are needed to bolster the package.
With its clamshell design, small shape and black sheen, this has to be a mobile phone. However it is the emblazoned metallic orange "W." on the front of the device that marks this as one of Sony Ericsson's Walkman phones. In fact the subject of this review is the Sony Ericsson Walkman W300i model that combines telephony capabilities with the Walkman music experience. As previously stated this clamshell phone is fairly compact, measuring 90 x 47 x 24.
A popular saying is that great things come in small packages, this certainly seems to be true in the case of this digital camera.
The is 8.5x5.5x2cm and weights only around 200grams. Certainly the images taken with this camera look excellent. It is a 6mega pixel offering and has 4x optical zoom. Canon Ixus 800IS I have only very minor gripes to make about this unit so lets get them out of the way first. Images are stored on an SD card but only a 16MB card is supplied.
Excuse my breathless state but the subject matter of this review required a physical approach.
Health is an issue that should concern us all. This is especially true when it comes to the personal aspect of our own body and how best to ensure it remains at the proscribed level of efficiency. Diet and exercise are just two elements of health control we can influence and indeed should do so. Figures put the number of deaths in England that can be linked to obesity at over 30,000.
This is a very powerful notebook with a reasonable sized screen, put the two together and the weight is not gigantic. Add the ability to work in Media Centre mode and it should suit most.
The biggest task with machines is to match the sent configuration with what is available on their site. I was sent a Intel 2GHz processor with 1GB of RAM and Windows Media Centre Edition of the laptop. The hard disc was shown as 93GB and I assume that was the 100GB option. Dell 640m Sorry to be so vague but I all I get sent is a total insurance value, it would be so nice to have a sheet detailing the parts that make the whole. This is a 14.
Whether still or on the move, this mouse basks in its own light display.
If you make long train/tube/bus journeys then this could be for you. You could watch last nights TV on your way to work, not on some tiny screen but this 7inch offering.
Archos do two models of the the one I saw with a 40GB hard drive and a larger one. Some time ago I saw a predecessor of this nice idea but the screen was not big enough for any serious watching and that was back in the time of everything USB 1.1 so transfer was not that fast. AV 700 This unit can record directly from TV, DVD, VCR as well as cable and satellite boxes and it does not mind if the signal is PAL or NTSC.
Normally when working on an existing image you need to load an appropriate application to carry out any editing; however there is an alternative method.
Yes I ended up looking at this during the World Cup, Wimbledon and the Open Golf but I actually requested it a couple of months before. First surprise it weights a lot less than my conventional 28inch.
Grabbing VHS tape content for conversion to digital format is the role undertaken by the Grabster AV400.
With the home rapidly having more and more PC's then having wireless connectivity makes sense if only to avoid the hazards of trailing wires that are lethal to all ages.
Protecting yourself from the threat of identity theft is becoming increasingly import.
This is an All In One that has a massive TFT display so for those not using a PC they can still copy and print without having to compromise.
This unit is not that small, it is also a five ink offering, that's, cyan, magenta, yellow and black plus another high capacity black cartridge. It is 46x49x21cm without paper inserted in the rear near vertical position, this adds another 17cm to the 21cm height. All the user controls are on an overhang at the front of the unit 15 buttons and a five position rocker, these surround the massive 7.5x5.5cm TFT display.
Glowing Input was my original title for this next product but a mouse's liking for dark places finally held sway.
