A Case of Poisoning

Hidden Object Chronicles - Poisoned Truth presents you a treasure hunt type concept as you take on the role of a detective hired to solve a murder mystery. I have been looking at the Collector's Edition version of the title which has been developed by Relax Games, a part of the Domini Games company. Apart from a slight reduction in the game's difficulty levels, Relax Games makes use of the same Domini Game options for adjusting the gaming environment you will face with this title.
Following the death of Mark Mendelson, the patriarch of a posh family after a recent gathering of the clan, you are hired to discover the guilty party. With prompts based on a task sequence, you will be led through a route that covers 72 stop-over points dealing with individual stages of your investigation. Each stop-over point will provide you with access to a recharging Hint feature, a link to a Strategy Guide plus appropriate details relating to your current stage in the investigation.
At various times the stop-over point will feature a witness interrogation usually with evidence discovery but in most cases the stop-over route will concentrate on Hidden Object action with some puzzle solving interrupting progress as you follow its path. While often repeating a particular scene, the Hidden Object action aspect will feature a variety of formats. Sometimes you will be required to find set items but occasionally your task will involve replacing items in a scene.
When required items are needed then they could be listed in text format, identified by descriptive text, as the correct answer to a riddle or in jumbled word format. You could also be asked to find items from their silhouette, a distinctive pattern or a small image. There will also be times when you will need to look for matched pairs of items finding a specific number of a type of object. Fortunately, whether finding or replacing items, a Hint feature could prove useful in achieving your task.
Some stop-over points will challenge you to solve a mini game puzzle. Various types of puzzles will be presented with some offering a choice of Easy or Hard version of the particular task. You might be asked to recreate a scene from irregular jigsaw pieces or swap around sections of a scene. Another type of problem could involve gathering together certain collectible objects while clearing a Mah-jong layout, Spotting the Difference between scenes and stopping a travelling chain from reaching its destination are other tasks waiting to be tackled.
Once the main game has been completed then you gain access to a bonus chapter dealing with another family mystery plus the chance to check out features such as concept art, wallpaper and background music. I downloaded my copy of this CE version of the game from Gamehouse.com where it is priced at $19.99. You could also download the game from Big Fish Game priced at £15.22. The game requires a 2.0 GHz processor with 1024MB of RAM running Windows 7 and later.
