I am not normally a big chewer but as I was offered some samples I gave it a try, anything that offers the chance of not catching recent bugs is a plus as far as I am concerned. While I have heard of the possible advantages of Zinc the word Chitosan was new to me but not it seems for Microsoft Words spell checker.

Each Tablet is 1.5cm across and around .5cm thick covered in a glossy coating, they start to do good things in the mouth as you start chewing. The blurb says lasts for up to an hour, well in my tests I was still getting a good minty taste after two hours. The benefits should start to be given after fifteen minutes of chewing.
So what is Chitosan? ‘Chitosan is a natural sugar polymer found in nature. It has been tested in many scientific studies and has shown strong antiviral properties against a wide range of well-known viruses’.
‘Once you have finished chewing you have an extra layer of protection in your mouth for up to an hour’.
The recommended daily intake is three tablets. There are nine tablets per push out card, and each card comes in its own sleeve.
The tablets I was sent have a use by date of December 2023.
So far I have avoided the use of the word ‘Covid’ and the packs sleeve never mentions it but the press release does, ‘Dr Karl Skriner commented: “Because of Covid-19’s high infection rate, the development of methods and tools to curb the spread of the virus have been the focus of the medical and scientific community. One compound of particular interest at the moment is Chitosan. The idea behind GoBeDo chewing gum is to put a long-lasting layer of Chitosan in our mouths, which also happens to be where the virus is likely to enter’.

While I doubt at my age that I will ever be a big chewer, the gum was pleasant tasting and in crowded places may help increase protection to catching Covid and other bugs especially if you practice chewing with your mouth closed.
