With a title based on the 1001 Jigsaw series, you might be of the opinion that there would not be enough source material to fill five versions of the product especially when the subject matter concerns Cute Cats. But lets be realistic. The 1001 reference is best considered as a brand name rather than the actual amount of jigsaws making up the offering.
The actual content of titles in this series consists of 500 images of the household pet which has the ability to govern the way we, as the householder, act within our homes. 1001 Jigsaw Cute Cats presents you with 500 images of this popular pet. They have been divided into five books that each contain 100 images of our furry friends doing their best to amuse and captivate us while letting us believe we were in charge when really they were.
Spread out in photo album style covering 13 pages per book, each photo is accompanied by a number and an icon symbol. The number, which varies between 12 and 247, indicates how many pieces there are in the particular puzzle. The number also gives a clue as to the size of the pieces, the larger the number, the smaller the pieces are. If the accompanying icon symbol features a small red arrow then this tells you that the puzzle will contain a rotation element and thus many pieces will need to be turned through 90, 180 or 270 degrees before it will fit in place.
While concentrating its subject matter on our feline companions, this version 5 of Cute Cats goes for a more jocular approach. Featuring a series of amusing poses, the cats take centre stage while still retaining their appealing aspect. In some case the supplied images have obviously been doctored to illustrate the cat in unusual poses or in a format to produce an image that you would not want to encounter late at night.
As you flock through the available images displayed in the five books, you have the ability to make some minor adjustments to an image's puzzle settings. By selecting a Modify option, you will be given access to a pair of slider bar adjustment tools. One bar can be used to increase or decrease the number of default pieces in the puzzle while the second bar can change the angle of the cut used to create the pieces. You also have the option to turn on or off the rotation feature for that puzzle.
Once selected the chosen image will be transferred to a work area as scattered jigsaw pieces. With the pieces scattered randomly on a user-defined background area, you also get various tools running across the base of the screen. Single pieces can be selected and/pr moved by the left mouse button and rotated with the right mouse button Running from left to right are tools for image, ghost, zoom, border, hint, sort and settings features. Sitting in the top left corner of the screen is a pocket into which you can store pieces that may not be immediately required but their removal will help clear some work space.
Cat lovers, and the rest of you, can download this title from Gamehouse.com where it is priced at $9.99. The game requires a 1.0 GHz processor with 512MB of RAM and 180MB of hard disk space running Windows 7 and later.
