Kodak Easy Share C360

This is slightly smaller and maybe a little more stylish in design. It is 8x6.5x3cm and weights around 200grams. The first major difference is the larger TFT screen this is 4x3cm. The next is this unit comes with a solid rechargeable battery as well as the mains lead to recharge it. However there is another bonus, it will also work on two standard AA batteries, a nice feature as I am sure many of us have had batteries die just at the most inconvenient moment.
The wheel on top is the same as the C340 and so are the self timer and flash buttons albeit a different shape. In fact the back has the same layout with the larger TFT on the left, you can frame images either using the TFT or the viewfinder, the four buttons to the right of the TFT do the same job, as do the Wide-angle and Tele-photo buttons and indeed the five position wheel to make internal adjustments to the settings. All these buttons are just that little bit better looking, however anyone able to use one camera will immediately be able to use the other.
Just like the C340 there is a 3x optical zoom and although I did not mention it on the C340 both also have digital zoom beyond the 3x optical, however do remember that digital zoom only makes the actual image smaller. You would be far better in capturing the image at maximum optical zoom and then using software to blow up the part of the image you require.
Next major difference the image sizes on the C360 they are 5, 4.4, 4, 3.1 and 1.8 mega pixel. This in fact was the clincher when I decided to review the cameras separately. Another difference is the available internal memory 32MB in this unit, still not large and I certainly would purchase an SD card to bump this up to a point where running out of image storage should not happen. The remaining images on the camera are shown top right as with the C340 but in white so a lot more readable.
The first seventy pages of the manual are in English and should certainly be enough to get even the novice well into using the camera. It is very nice to have a paper manual these days as so often everything apart from the absolute essentials are in .pdf format.
As stated in the other review images taken with one camera are all but identical to those taken with the other. Of course with the size differentials unless the images are both taken at the maximum 5 mega pixel resolution there are bound to be differences in the depth of field, so you would notice a difference when zoomed into a detailed object.
In summary two cameras that outwardly are close in size and style, both has the same lens, images sizes are somewhat different, internal memory is 32MB on the C360 and 16MB on the C340. In both cases you really need an SD card as both amounts of memory are inadequate. The C340 is supplied with 2xAA batteries while the C360 has a solid rechargeable battery but can run on AA batteries, a nice touch that.
The best price of the Kodak Easy Share C360 on doing a web search seems to be £163.80 again from www.pixmania.co.uk rather more than the very keenly priced C340. As always it must depend on how much you are going to use the camera and which of the features you require.
