Spread over 100 festive holiday levels, the Ironcode Gaming developed release of Christmas Yarn 3 Match 3 title is available in Collector's Edition format. Offering a choice of language versions (English, French or German) with fast or high quality graphics, endless play with time or limited moves, this game can be tackled in Casual or Expert difficulty mode as you assist the Anderson family celebrate Christmas even though their festive decorations have mysteriously disappeared.
Your task will involve solving the mystery of the decoration disappearance and replacing these decorations. You will need to complete a series of Match 3 levels of game play. Grids will be displayed containing a variety of elements and these will need to be cleared. Filling large areas of the current grid will be numerous tiles featuring various festive decorations and power-ups that can be used to destroy the surrounding vicinity once they are activated to open up access to closed areas of the grid.
Much of the work required to clear away areas of the grid will require the normal method of swapping two adjacent tiles to create a group of three or more similar tiles. The group will then disappear and will be replaced by other tiles falling downwards. This can create a cascading effect and help with clearance.
As you set about clearing the various presented grids, the game will provide you with some power-ups. Available from outside the grid will be power-ups for providing a Hint, Hammer or Shuffle features which need recharging after each use. You also get tiles that, within the grid, can explode, drop a heavy weight onto a plunger to explode dynamite, and other types of controlling tiles plus the ability to create small and large type bombs following the creation of groups with four or five tiles.
Every so often the regular appearance of Match 3 grids will be interrupted by the insertion of a mini game puzzle. This puzzle could be of the jigsaw type, a pipe connecting tasks, sliding blocks to create a pathway to release a key, matching face down cards or play a Solitaire hand. The completion of each Match 3 grid level and the various mini puzzle tasks will bring a reward of money. This reward can be spent purchasing decorations for the Anderson's living room.
As mentioned earlier, Christmas Yarn 3 is available in Collector's Edition format. This version bundles a number of extra items to supplement the main game action. Access to these bonus items will be granted once the first 20 levels of the main game have been completed. You will then have access to a further 59 extra grid levels, 5 jigsaw puzzles, 9 slider puzzles, 9 pipe connecting tasks and 4 wallpaper scenes.
Christmas Yarn 3 is fun to play although some of its levels might prove hard to complete. This game is also available from Big Fish Games priced at £16.37.
