Suricate Software's latest excursion into the world of Jewel Match game play focuses on the Lord of Darkness and Dracula's efforts to create a fortress worthy of his status. Available in Collector's Edition format, this title combines mini game puzzles, fortress construction and various special abilities with regards to the tiles appearing in the game. The main central package is sandwiched between 15 tutorial levels, giving some idea of the range of featured encountered in the game, and a selection of bonus extras.
When playing this game, you have a wide range of options when setting up the game's environment. Volume levels for background music, sound effects and ambience can be set as can the background brightness. There are also opportunities to turn on/off settings for interactive help, full screen viewing, static pieces, match hints, a custom mouse pointer and Open GL video sequences. You also have a choice of Relaxed, Time or Move limitation mode in normal, advanced or extreme difficulty.
The Match 3 element of the game spreads itself over 100 levels. You will need to follow the trail created by the levels with an occasional side track when they make an appearance. Each level will be based against appropriate background scenery and will consist of grids that can be found situated in linked arrangement of rooms.
You can tackle the grids in any order and you will be allowed to move between them as necessary to fulfil their tasks. Switching between grids will often be required to collected items that might be available in another room in order to carry out a task in your current location. A regular example of this might involve finding a key elsewhere that will unlock a padlock blocking your current progress.
The various Match 3 grids will require the use of the standard process of creating groups of three or more tiles by swapping two adjacent tiles. The formed group then disappears and it will be replaced by other tiles falling downwards or maybe produce a movement in a specific direction. Grids will feature a wide range of tile types that have been dusted with certain abilities. There are tiles representing a Luck Clover, Box, Safe, Spiked Mace, Red Walk, Golden Snail and an Amulet. There are three different types of Amulets with each one needing to be moved towards the top, bottom or side of the grid as appropriate before it disappears.
Other elements will make an appearance during most grids. A conveyor belt has the ability to move tiles along a pathway while fog can cover areas of the grid until it is removed. Sometimes a Magic Compass tile will appear and allow you to turned of a magnetic effect that will draw tiles in a certain direction. You also need to be on the look out for Dracula's personal Butler who can be guided to certain areas before he releases a thunderbolt that will remove a blockage.
At the completion of each level, you will be allowed to make use of any various rewards you have collected and use them to restore Dracula's fortress home. These rewards will be made up of gems, coins, and Amulets and can be gained by clearing grids, puzzle levels and success in Collectible Cup game play which is available from time to time. You will be able to restore arts of building and apply decorations to suit the Lord of Darkness's wishes.
