Amanda Goes to Paris

Continuing its look at the adventures making up Amanda's Magic Book, e-Funsoft has released episode 10 of this series of Match 3 game play. In this latest episode, Amanda is partnered by her usual companion, Charlie, as the time travelling duo are transported to the 19th century Paris. Rather surprisingly, the duo's adventure are not the result of Charlie's usual bout of mischievous behaviour. Instead it was the appearance of gift tickets to a Parisian opera that set in motion the events that were about to come about.
Operating in either Relaxed or Timed mode, this e-Funsoft title has split the game into 72 levels of game action into five chapters as the story line develops. Along with linking scenes and Match 3 game play, each chapter will contain four upgrades to the gaming environment. In order to carry out these upgrades, you will need to purchase them with stars earned for completing the Match 3 levels. The upgrades must be implemented in order and each one will be followed by a static scene involving spoken dialogue by a couple of the game's characters.
The actual Match 3 action follows the usual pattern I have come to expect with e-Funsoft titles. A centrally positioned grid will have a variety of embellished tiles mixed in with blocked areas. The grid will be sandwiched between level and score information plus available power-ups on the left and details of the amount and type of tiles to be removed to complete the level on the right.
The main method of removing tiles will require the creation of groups of three or more similar tiles by swapping two adjacent tiles. The group then disappears and it will be replaced by other tiles falling downwards thus possibly creating other groups and causing a cascading effect. When groups of five or more tiles are created then you will be rewarded with a bomb that can be used in a manner similar to the supplied power-ups to clear away areas.
While tiles are generally removed from the Match 3 grid by being destroyed, there is one particular tile that cannot be removed by this method. Referred to as an Artefact, this type of tile can not form part of a group. In order to remove an Artefact, you will need to create a pathway beneath it so that it drops to the bottom of the grid and can be removed. When presence in a grid, an Artefact will always form part of the challenge and will need to be removed.
As progress is made through the Match 3 levels, Amanda and Charlie will be introduced to the legend of the Phantom of the Opera. Naturally inquisitive, the duo will visit the Opera House and explore dark corridors in search of the Phantom's secrets. The results of their findings will be revealed in the linking scenes mentioned earlier.
You can download this latest version of Amanda's Magic Book from Gamehouse.com where it is priced at $9.99 or from Big Fish Games priced at £7.74. System requirements call for a 1.5 GHz processor with 1024MB of RAM and 157MB of hard disk space running Windows 7 and later.
