If you enjoyed the My Lovely Pets title from AVI Games then you now have the opportunity of more of the same with the follow-up release, which is not surprisingly, entitled My Lovely Pets 2 in Collector's Edition format. The usual selection of adjustable options are available when playing this game. Profiles can be created so that different people can play the game and have their progress recorded. Adjustments can be made to the volume levels used for background music and sound effects with the game being presented in full screen mode.
The game is based around a series of picturesque locations that feature a collection of items just waiting to be discovered. These items are made up of all manner of objects, including various animals that could be considered as pets. Running across the bottom of these scenes is a panel that is divided into sections displaying relevant information.
Often taking up the first slot in the panel is the number of pets that are available for finding in the scene. These pets might be a hedgehog, tortoise, parrot, mouse, cat or dog. As each one is located so the required number will be reduced. The next slot will present the main items that you need to discover within the scene.
These items could be shown in text format, as silhouettes or the actual image of the appropriate article. While in most cases you will need to locate the item. occasionally you could need to place the image within the appropriate scene. Sometimes when the list is in text format, the entry will be coloured blue rather than black. This change of colour will indicate that the entry is a task, such as light a fire or install a floodlight, that needs to be completed.
A rechargeable Hint feature takes over the next slot. This can be used to help identify an item that is not yet found. Occasionally an additional slot will appear and this will contain a silhouette representing an additional item that will need to be found.
Built into many of the scenes that you will need to tackle will be a second or third mini scene. These additional scenes will be indicated by an outbreak of sparkles and can contain at least one of the required items. Once they no longer contain a required item, they will automatically close themselves to remove their distraction.
At regular intervals, following a couple of completed locations, you will be challenged to complete a mini game puzzle. These puzzles offer a variety of challenges. You could be asked to restore images by rotating sections or select from tiles to create a pet. Other puzzles include spotting the differenced between two similar scenes, moving groups of pets around to product a scene or playing a memory game by matching face-down cards.
As mentioned earlier, this is a Collector's Edition title. Along with the main game, you get a number of bonus items to enhance the playing experience. These bonus items include 8 bonus levels, 8 bonus puzzles plus 12 extra puzzles and a pet shop where you can purchase 20 different pets.
With its rather basic appeal and story book style graphics, this title will not appeal to everybody and would benefit from some facts concerning the pets and their life style. The game requires a 1.6 GHz processor with 1024MB of RAM running Windows 7 and later.
