As a global provider of networking solutions and appropriate accessories, TP-Link has a large catalogue of offerings. I recently have had the opportunity to try out one of the company’s product. This offering is the AC750 Archer MR200. This product is a Wireless Dual Band 4G LTE Router and it is the subject matter of this review for Gadgetspeak.com.
Opening this particular package revealed an egg-box style tray containing the various components making up this kit Taking up a central position in this tray is the AC750 Wireless Dual Band 4G LTE Router. Accompanying this unit are a power adapter with three-pin plug and a 150cm length of lead which should remove any concerns over positioning the unit in relation to an available power source. Also included in the box are a pair of external antennas, RJ45 Ethernet cable plus an adapter for use with a SIM card that needs to be provided by the user and will need to be inserted in the appropriate slot on the router device. You also get various items of documentation.
While my aging eyes, with the assistance of my trusted magnifying glass could cope with the Quick Installation Guide (a folded sheet of paper) and the GNU General Public License booklet, the small font used on the other two pieces of paper defeated my strongest magnifying tool. Come on guys please consider that some of your customers might not have perfect 20/20 vision and would benefit from a larger font size.
Predominately black in colour, the router unit has a lacquered top, with the top featuring a silver coloured TP-Link logo, mounted on a matte base. With dimensions of 202 x 141 x 33.6 mm (W x D x H), this AC750 Wireless Dual Band 4G LTE Router features a total of five antennas, Three of the antennas are concealed within the body of the unit and cover the WiFi aspect of the product. Located at either end of the unit’s rear are the two external antennas which need to be screwed in and these antennas deal with the 4G LTE integrated modem that forms part of this device.
Arranged between the rear mounted external antennas, running from right to left, are the mains power connection, power on/off button, three 10/100 Mbps LAN ports, one 10/100 Mbps LAN/WAN port. Next come buttons for WPS reset and WiFi on/off. Finally there is the slot for the required SIM card which the user needs to supply. The base of the unit provides plenty of ventilation assisted by a pair of raised feet and a couple of hook openings if you decide to wall-mount this networking router instead of placing it on your work desk which was my preferred option.
Basic set up operations for this product could not be more straightforward. You simply need to attach the power lead, decide whether to go with a wired or wireless computer connection and insert your SIM card using the supplied appropriate adapter. The AC750 Wireless Dual Band 4G LTE Router will do the rest for you as it carries out its configuration and simultaneously creates a dual band network with speeds rated at 300 Mbps on the 2.4GHz band and 433 Mbps on the 5GHz band.
You could, of course, prefer putting your own skills to the test or opt to take advantage of a step-by-step guide for Internet connections as you create a name and password for your wireless network. Depending upon your level of experience, you can carry out tasks that include bandwidth adjustment and parental controls.
The AC750 Wireless Dual Band 4G LTE Router supports a range of devices. If it suits your needs then you can opt for cable, fibre and DSL modem support. While the product’s dual band WiFi facility promises to deliver data at a speed of up to 733Mbps, I have to admit that I have yet to achieve this data transfer rate. When it comes to sharing its 3G/4G connection, this modem/router has a claimed hosting ability to take on-board 64 wireless devices, such as tablets, laptops and mobile phones, on a simultaneous basis.
With such wide ranging support, dual wired and wireless connectivity, this product should be equally at home when providing its functionality in an office or home environment as it is transported between the two locations. Currently the AC750 Wireless Dual Band 4G LTE Router is listed on Amazon.co.uk priced at £109.20.
