click image to enlargeThe Eagle Pro AI AX1500 Smart Router R15 to give its full name seems to me to be a little long for a title.
The main body of it is 20x13x4cm without anything plugged in, it has four aerials two on the back and one either side all move through 90 degrees from vertical to horizontal.
There are four pin hole LED’s on the front, four Ethernet ports on the rear the yellow one goes to your modem and the other three allow you to connect things needing Ethernet. To the right of the yellow Ethernet port is a WPS button and below that a Factory Reset button and to the right of these is a mains adapter connection. Also in the box are an Ethernet lead, the mains adapter which can be Europe or UK as both plug ends are included finally a large warranty sheet that no one reads or if they did they would probably go blind as the type is so small, I could just about make out that it covered 22 countries. From this you will gather there are no instructions – as is becoming normal – it’s all controlled from an App. There is a link on the box to get a downloadable file.
Once installed on your iOS or Android phone you can set things up and quite unusually it can be voice controlled by either Amazon Alexa or OK Google.
AI is at the heart of what this device can offer, Mesh Optimization, Wi-Fi Optimization, Traffic Optimization are all there as are Parental Controls and as mentioned the assistants be it Amazon or Google.
It is stated up to 128 devices can be controlled by this unit, certainly my tests never got anywhere near this figure.
Wi-Fi 6 has a capacity of four times that of Wi-Fi 5. It also has a 25% speed increase over Wi-Fi 5 and should be able to handle all your Smart devices including the latest SmartPhones.
Unlike most earlier Routers this can support both 2.4 and 5 GHz and double the MU-MIMO streams up from 4 to 8.
A few figures for those who like such things this Router can cover 360 sqm. It has speed capability of 300 Mbps on the 2.4 GHz band and four times that on the 5 GHz band.
Once setup the AI within it tells you everything that you need to know via your mobile phone.
