With this next title. Elephant Games has opted to return to the Crossroads playing environment. Rather than the often derided television soap famous for its use of flaky scenery, the Elephant Game's take on Crossroads focusing its attention on a building that you could well walk past and ignore it completely. It is the type of building that will hide its appeal under a bushel unless it felt your needs and thus would draw you into its warm embrace. Once you enter, you would be introduced to Mistress Eve, the building's enigmatic bartender who would guide the next stages of your life as you tackle Crossroads - What Was Lost offering.
This game is available in Collector's Edition format which bundles a number of bonus items to supplement the main Crossroads story. The bonus items contain a mixture of some items that are available immediately and others that will require progress or the need to be tackled in the main game before they become available. You also get a bonus chapter to further explore your experiences with Mistress Eve once the main games has been completed.
After a brief introductory sequence as you think about your late mother and get use to the mouse pointers plus the supplied tools of a Map, Task, Inventory, Strategy Guide and Hint feature arranged across the bottom of the screen. you enter the Crossroads building and meet Mistress Eve. Immediately recognising your troubled state of mind, Mistress Eve sets you the challenge of completing three tasks. To assist you in these challenges, you are provided with Eve's pet snake to act as your Hint feature.
Presented in the form of fables, you will need to work through the three individual stories of "Silent River", "Town of the Lost" and "Watch Your Step". Each offering will lead you through various challenges you will need to face in a game-like scenario. These challenges include searching different locations, solving mini game puzzles and tackling Hidden Object scenes plus making decisions on a variety of topics in order to select the correct route.
After each of Mistress Eve's challenges you will be advised on any lessons learned regarding your state of mind which was the reason your entered the Crossroads building in the first place. At the conclusion of the three fable-like tasks, you will be released from the confines of the Crossroads influence and able to exists in the world at large.
With its mixture of weird locations and challenging tasks, this Crossroads title can be purchased from Gamehouse.com where it is priced at $19.99. You could also download it from Big Fish Games priced at £15.51. The game requires a 2.5 GHz processor with 1024MB of RAM and 2.44GB of hard disk space running Windows 7 and later.
