Point 8 Games would like to invite you to take part in a virtual tour of Alaska.  This invitation comes in the form of the company's Vacation Paradise - Alaska Hidden Object title.  This offering is available in Collector's Edition format but more on that aspect a little later.

Those playing this game have a choice of playing the game in a variety of European languages.   You also have the option of playing this game in a choice of Easy, Medium or Hard difficulty levels.  The choice you make when selecting this level of difficulty will mainly affect the amount of time required for the Hint feature to become recharged after use.  The easier the level, the less time you will be made to wait for the Hint feature to become available.  The Hint level recharge will take 15, 35 or 60 seconds after each use.

Your trip to admire the wonders of Alaska will consist of a mixture of Hidden Object scenes and mini game puzzles which are spread over 69 levels of game play.  Each level in this Vacation Paradise will be made up of various Hidden Object scenes plus a mini game puzzle.  While you are restricted with regards the order in which the levels must be tackled in order, you are granted the freedom to tackle the level's content in whatever order appeals to you at the time.

When choosing to tackle a Hidden Object scene, the program is capable of opting to work using one of six different modes of identifying the required items.  The modes, from which you may selected, are identified as Name, Riddle, Scrabble word, Missing vowels, Silhouette and Pairs. For each level you can make a different choice.  You do need to be aware that by selecting Word, you could be faced by an addition problem as any word coloured blue in the list will mean you need to carry out a task in order to select it.

Each Hidden Object scene will contain a mixture of items that may be required as part of the search element.  The scene will also contain a Flag or a Polar Bear.  The finding of such items will eventual grant you access to two of the bonus elements provided with this package.  While collecting enough Flags lets you into the bonus elements, you will need to collect enough Polar Bears to take part in an unlimited search option and find every item in the full compliment of level scenes.

Once you have completed the Hidden Object scenes of a level, you can then move on and tackle its mini game puzzle.  These puzzles tend to vary in type and difficulty.  Among the randomly presented mini game puzzles making an appearance are those that require flags to be paired with their country, answers found to certain riddles and groups made up of a specific number of objects.

Other puzzle types on offer might include swapping tiles to create a pattern, playing a mah-jong board, matching pairs of face down cards and adding the correct numbers to a mathematics arrangement of equations.  The game also features a Jigsaw puzzle mini game that could benefit from some addition work.  You are only able to select or move pieces that are not covered by other pieces until there have been cleared of obstructions by using the pieces on top first.

Not surprisingly, with the number of levels and multiple choice of Hidden Object scenes, the game does feature some repetition of content seen in other titles but it is not a major handicap.  You can download this title from Gamehouse.com where it is priced at $19.99.  The game requires a 2.5 GHz processor with 2048MB of RAM and 643MB of hard disk space running Windows 7 and later.
