Trick Solitaire

When is a trick, not a trick? Maybe when it involves the game of Solitaire.

I must admit that the title of this next game initially caused me a certain amount of confusion regarding its content.  My first thoughts on seeing the title "Trick Solitaire" were that I was about to learn more about card manipulation and some so-called tricks.  But I was mistaken.

Cards would certainly play a part but the trick element referred to the variety of possible additions that were to be used to give this digital version of Solitaire an extra level of complexity when completing various hands of the game of Solitaire.  Rather than a demonstration of forms of card manipulation, this DIGIMIGHT title of "Trick Solitaire" is based around the playing multiple hands of the Solitaire game play.

You can make a number of adjustments to the playing environment used by this Solitaire title.  Volume levels can be set for background music and sound effects that tend to be used to remind you with an indication that you might have missed a possible move such as a card removal.  The game can be viewed in full screen mode using a choice of two types of card faces and four different card backs.

When playing this game, the Solitaire method used involves the method of removing cards that are one higher or lower than the previous card so as to form a chain sequence.  Spread over a variety of locations which need to be tackled in the prescribed order, you will be shown different background scenes as you make progress through the story line covering five locations that take in a Lonely Night, African Bazaar, Private Island, Street Performance and a Yacht Party.  Each of these locations will feature 40 levels that you need to work through.

Starting with the Lonely Night location, you will be introduced to Maris, a young woman who runs her own business, and Tom who is a talented card magician.  Later in the game as you visit the different location, further characters such as Inferno, Zachariah and Bristol will be added to the cast list as the story develops.

At regular stages during the progress through the various levels of Solitaire game play, you will be set a particularly challenging set of cards to remove.  Often this challenge will include the introduction of a new embellishment which will be added to certain cards in the layout.  This embellishment will need to be removed by a special method and it can only be achieved by pairing it will an appropriate cleansing method when it becomes available.  This bonus levels is actually the Trick referred to in the game's title.  I felt more should have been made of this particular aspect of the game.

You can download this rather disappointing title from Gamehouse.com where it is priced at $9.99.  The game requires a 1.0 GHz processor with 512MB of RAM and 181MB of hard disk space running Windows 7 and later.
