So at the £9.99 price point both offer you all the music you want at the touch of a button on your phone, PC, Tablet of even Alexa or Google voice controlled speaker devices.
Deezer also have a Hi-Fi mode far higher quality ideal for those audiophiles with good quality speakers or quality headphones this mode is best for those listening on Wi-Fi in your home as the amount of data is far larger. Good quality MP3 the £9.99 offering is around one tenth of what you get from a CD which roughly equates to the £19.99 standard which is about the same as from a CD.
While my taste is not Pop or Popular Music, I always look to see some classical piano but my choice is Jazz produced from around 1940 to date and here Deezer gives a very good choice.
As an older person I prefer to listen to whole CD’s whereas I am told the younger listener prefer the single track. You can of course create playlists. My choice is instrumental; the younger listener will prefer vocal offerings.
When listening to a whole CD a recent change is that the tracks now play in a random order rather than sequentially as previously, fine if listening via a device with a screen but less useful for those with something like a Google Mini where you need to ask Google the name of the track should you not know it. This could also a problem if the tracks on the CD are telling a story and things would become out of sequence and not what the composer wanted. This now seems to have been corrected and I have just played a 20 track CD and all were sequential.
A couple of recent features available now in Deezer are the ability to change the background colour from white to black, perhaps most useful for those listening on a phone.
Another offering is the ability to ban a track simply by marking it as not to be played. It would be nice if that went further so that you could ban an artist or a composer no doubt that may come in time.
While I have a good collection of CD’s the ability to play an artist works before purchase for me, ideal for new musicians. After all that’s what we used to do with ‘steam radio’ and then went out to the shop to buy.
With a streaming service whatever your mood is catered for at the touch of a button, whatever your mood at the time.
Playlists created by the people at the streaming service give a mood or a style of music and this again finds you new artists.
The most recent change is that Deezer is now integrating with Lyrics on Chromecast so you can now show lyrics on your TV and sing along!
Full details of the various offerings are available from the link below. They also do a free service but that will have adverts.
