Demon of the Void

As the chosen warrior of the Goddess Harmony, you need to react whenever the call arrives.

Jet Dogs Studio has returned to the world of Harmony for this next title.  Entitled “The Harmony Chronicles – Demon of the Void”, this Hidden Object Adventure casts you in the role of Mona, the chosen warrior of the Goddess Harmony.  Your role in this existence is to carry out the wished of your mistress and return everything to the peace and harmony that delights the Goddess.  In this case you have been charged with unravelling the mystery of how the Void Demon came to be released from its life-long imprisonment and was now causing disruption to the various parts of the Universe as it carried out its evil plans.

Assisting you in this task to restore equilibrium of the Universe will be your regular companion in the form of a talking book that has the habit in over-indulging in bouts of chatter.  Later in the game your band of assistants will be supplemented by Professor Kadabrius, once he has been transformed into his earlier younger self through the partaking of a special amulet which you will need to find, and the evil version of your chattering book friend.

These characters, and several others you encounter during the adventures that follow, are shown on-screen in animated format and deliver their dialogue in both spoken format and text printed on the screen.  However while they do show signs of life with animated features, this does not include any movement of the lips.  It is almost as if they were auditioning for the role of a ventriloquist as they deliver dialogue.

Spread over 42 levels of action, you will need to visit a variety of locations, many of which would not look out of place in a horror nightmare, even involving a trip underwater.  These levels will feature encounters will different characters and require the tackling of mini game puzzles and Hidden Object scenes plus a certain amount of repartee involving the pair of talking books as you work your way around traps and solve various problems.  Gradually your focus will become fixed on the need to work with a powerful wizard who might be willing to join you after he had been tricked by the Void Demon whom he had helped escape.

You will be on your own when task schedules involves tackling the different types of Hidden Object scenes that appear throughout the game.  Displaying a cluttered style of object arrangements, the Hidden Object scenes will be accompanied by the items you will need to discover.  These items could be displayed in sequence as you look for a specific number of a type of item or as a list of items to be found presented in text format.  At other times, the game might ask for a set number of pairs of items or represented by silhouettes.  Assistance in the form of a Hint feature, which takes some time to recharge after each use, is available.

Some tasks will involve solving a mini game puzzle.  These interludes could require moving elements around until you have created an appropriate pattern.  As you are not informed as to the appearance of the appropriate pattern that you need to duplicate, this does add an extra layer of difficulty.  You might be reduced to carrying out a “trial and error” process as you attempt to create a pair of Egyptian style images, setting up linked gears with appropriate coloured additions, putting together the pieces of a wedding cake, solving a slider puzzle and rotating the elements of a Rubik-style cube decorated with designs.  Although these puzzles do not offer a Hint feature, there is an option to skip each one.

Having completed your tasks involving a fairy’s wedding, restoring the pride of a headless knight in armour and rescuing a Centaur’s world, you will gain access to 30 additional puzzles that require to fit together the pieces of various scenes featured during the main game and access various wallpapers.  You can download this adventure to save the Universe from Gamehouse.com where it is priced at $9.99 or from Big Fish Games priced at £7.50..  The game requires a 1.0 GHz processor with 512MB of RAM and 1.02GB of hard disk space running Windows 7 and later.
