Recover the Magic Snowflake

Your talents are called for to help put right the mishap when the wrong present is delivered.

With the vast amount of Christmas presents to deliver to recipients who have qualified for the Nice List, the amount of work involved plus the necessary organisational skills means mistakes and accidents can happen.  This next title concerns such an incident and the confusion that can occur following such a mistake.  Domini Games has built this next offering around such an event.  The title in question in entitled Christmas Fables - The Magic Snowflake which is available in Collector's Edition format.

Domini Games' usual array of options is available for adjusting the gaming environment.  You can set volume levels for different aspects of audio used by the game plus opt for full screen viewing with a custom cursor plus activate special effects.  The game gives you a choice of opting for Casual. Advanced, Hardcore or Custom levels which give varying recharging speeds for Hint and Skip features plus the identification of active areas and the assistance provided by the map feature.

The discovery of an unlabelled present by Father Christmas starts this game in motion.  As the investigation to discover more about this particular present is passed onto to others, it quickly ends up as a problem for an elf called Lori who happens to be currently under-the-weather and not really the ideal candidate for this task.  As a result you will be required to assist Lori.

Events quickly progress and, as Father Christmas departs on his annual pilgrimage to deliver presents, evidence emerges that somehow the unlabeled present has been replaced in the delivery schedule in the original packaging by a snowflake that had magical properties which could cause problems if it fell into the wrong hands such as a mischievous child.  The game then takes you on a journey of activity as you assist Lori in preventing a holiday disaster

The game makes use of the regular features found in such offerings,  Running across the bottom of scenes will be available tools.  These tools will consist of a Journal recording tasks and notes; a map indicating available locations and where tasks need completing; an inventory storing items collected; Strategy Guide and Hint feature.  Pop-out icons, revealing details of Collectibles found and decisions made, sit on either side of the screen.

Your mouse cursor will change shape when it is in the vicinity of active zones to indicate when certain actions are possible.  Different pointers will be used when you can examine or pick up an item, move to another location or talk to another character. Overlaid windows will be used to display zoomed areas when targeting areas while split screens making an appearance when you are communicating with other characters you may encounter.

As you  move between scenes such as a Toy Factory, Warehouse, Launch Site, rabbit's burrow and various locations within the park shopping area, you will need to complete numerous tasks.  These tasks will include repairing a sleigh, finding magic dust to power the sleigh, create a blizzard ball and helping a rabbit buy presents for his family.  Interspersed throughout these tasks will be a number of mini game puzzles and Hidden Object game play challenges.

Offering a variety of formats, you will be given the choice of an Easy or Hard version of the puzzle.  Among the puzzles will be tasks involving linking stars, arranging shoes by weight, following a path and guiding a rabbit to various carrots.  Indicating by an outbreak of sparkles, Hidden Object game play could involve finding pairs of items, selecting tags, placing items and linking words to images in a book.  You are also given the option to switch to Match 3 game play.

This Christmas time adventure can be downloaded from Gamehouse.com where it is priced at $19.99.  It is also available from Big Fish Games priced at £15.84.  The game requires a 2.0 GHz processor with 1024MB of RAM and 1.07GB of hard disk space running Windows 7 and later.
