The Hoover Upright Pet 300 measures 116cm tall and the foot is 30x23cm. The accessories in with the unit are a small 11cm wide foot and a small 20cm long nozzle to fit onto the hose and a double ended brush, these can either be stored in the box or fitted to the sides of the unit so they never get lost.
Next a nice surprise a twelve side A4 manual in Landscape that covers everything and it’s all in English.
Out of the box all you need to do is clip the handle into the top of the main unit and you are ready to start hoovering.
Next another joy the lead is 8metres long most other units are one or two meters less long. In my home I can manage almost every bit from a single central point so no changing plugs all the time or adding an extension lead.
Full instructions are given for the use of the various tools and while I used them in various inaccessible places the thing to remember is always to keep the Hoover upright. So those with stairs will probably need to stop halfway up to get into all the crevices.
I found the mini turbo nozzle very useful for getting into areas that would otherwise not to be cleaned behind/beside or just cleaned occasionally when you have a big clean and everything gets moved.
The other tool is three in one when pulled apart is a short crevice tool – this is great for the car – and the double ended tool one end has a sort of Velcro so great for fabric and the other end brushes round the edges and they both fit onto the short crevice tool.
For me it’s how many times you need to go over something for it to be picked up, firstly lets deal with carpet and short or long carpets were both cleaned well, next close to things so you are asking it to suck almost sideways and again no complaints.
Now for hard surfaces and here there is a slider on the top of the foot so the brush bar is turned off and you are using just suctions to collect.
So I asked is the weight significantly different probably not if you can carry it up a flight of stairs then the handle on the upper part of the handle makes it easier but it is probably the bulk rather than the weight of 5.2 kilos that most find the problem.
For me anyway this ‘pet’ version does get hair from carpets well and during my test period nothing seemed to get adhered to the brush bar, I normally find its bits of cotton that are the worst offenders.
At the time of publication the Hoover H-Upright 300 is available from Amazon for £149.00.
