The Huawei P8 Lite measures 14.5x7.3x.8cm and weighs 147 grams. The viewable screen is 10.9x6.6cm and this gives the notional diagonal imperial measurement of 5.2inches.
It comes with an Octa Core (eight) 64-bit Kirin processor and is 4G LTE which can support downloads up to 150mbps.
The display is full HD 1080x1920, 3GB of RAM and has 16GB of internal memory with around 7GB free. You can also use a Micro SD Card to increase memory and it also supports OTG (On The Go) devices plugged into the micro USB port.
The rear camera is 12MP and the Selfie camera is 5MP.
So going round the unit finds the volume rocker on the right side with the on/off button below it. The base has the micro USB port and twin speakers. The left side has an eject able tray that holds your SIM and any micro SD card you use. The top has 3.5mm socket for headphones and the pin hole microphone. Finally the rear has the camera top left with LED flash beside it, below this a fingerprint scanner in the centre top quadrant of the back.
My unit was shiny black but somehow did not seem to show finger marks as much as most other units.
The internal App plays back full HD videos and the internal sound is rather good as the speakers are on the right side of the unit so for personal watching this gives adequate sound and unless you are in bright sunlight the screen is very clear and sharp.
Having a blue light adjustment means less eye strain and there is even an adjustment for bright light conditions.
In the box is a Getting Started manual a USB to micro USB lead a mains plug front and a device to allow you to eject the SIM holder. Plug in the supplied earbuds or you’re your own headphones and you have FM radio available.
A three second push of the on/off button starts the unit and 30 seconds brings you a usable (booted) phone, switch off is 3 seconds.
The big thing about the P9 was its superb camera and this one here is not too shabby and you have the option to change the shooting mode choices to get what you use near the top of the list.
Recording slow motion video is another exciting feature.
The 3000mAh battery should last the hardest day of work and for most will probably do two days between charges.
As there was an earlier version with lower power battery and lesser screen resolution do be careful you purchase the 2017 version.
