Moto G 5G Plus Smartphone

This is a new SmartPhone designed for 5G but that still works using 4G if you live or work in an area currently without 5G coverage. This is supplied with a transparent back and sides silicon cover that stops the cameras being proud on the back which means that you can lay it on any surface without any danger of scratching that surface.

The Moto G 5G Plus Smartphone measures 16.7x7.3x1cm and weighs 222grams with cover. The screen is 15.6x7cm which gives the notional imperial diagonal measurement of 6.7inches. The display is 1080x2520 pixels in a 21:9 ratio which is the same resolution as most recent films. The twin front cameras do bite into the display near the top left of the screen.

When a message arrives a notification displays immediately on what will otherwise be a blank screen and likewise the slightest tap even on the desk nearby will show the clock on the screen for a few seconds.

Going around the outside of the unit has Volume rocker button with a recessed on/off button below this which is also the finger print reader. The base has speaker, USB ‘C’, microphone and 3.5mm headphone input. The left side has a SIM and micro SD card entry point and a Google button. The top has a pin hole microphone. This leaves the back that has the unit’s cameras and a vertical central line LED flash.

There are four cameras on the back in a square, 48MP, 8MP wide angle, 5MP macro and 2MP depth. While the units two front cameras are 16MP and 8MP with different ‘f’ numbers. Video can be captured at up to (4K) 2160p at 30fps. It can also capture slow motion video in 1080p at 120fps.

The battery is 5000mAh so should last you at least two days between charges.

The unit sold by Vodafone is the higher specification 128GB model and this has 6GB RAM, the supplied colour is Surfing Blue.

It comes with the latest version of Bluetooth 5.1 and the Android version is 10.

It has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 765 octa-core processor.

So with 5G a full movie can be downloaded very quickly and those into online gaming can get many more wins with the speed available to them.

Even selfie shots have a wide angle option so there is no need for extra-long arms to get everyone in the shot.

The screen looks good and stays easy to read in all conditions except the impossible full sunlight straight onto the display. There is plenty of colour and brightness in all normal usage scenarios.

So if you are looking for a 5G phone then this Motorola offering should be on your shortlist.

Vodafone offer this for as little as £23.33 a month (£9.99 upfront) for 6GB of data. However only another £4.17 a month quadruples your data, both plans come with unlimited calls and texts.
