With a title that gives a clear clue, this next offering will no doubt appeal to fans of jigsaw puzzle solving. Developed by The Revills Games, Jigsaw Puzzle Lovers 2 combined elements of puzzle types, varied content and a selection of settings for use with individual puzzles.
Prior to entering this jigsaw heaven you can create profiles to record the progress of different players. Adjustments can be made to the volume levels used for background music and sound effects with the game being viewed in full screen mode. A choice of 28 background images is available for selection with adjustable brightness. You can also adjust the snap sensitivity for placement of the jigsaw pieces and the opacity of an optional preview. Other settings include turning on shadows, opting for piece rotation clockwise when necessary and deciding which mouse feature will activate work area scrolling when required.
Having decided on the suitable settings for the desired working area environment you can then select the image which will be used for the forthcoming puzzle. Users are supplied with a selection of 80 images that have being categorised into 8 groups that each containing ten images. The groups have been named as Animals, Architecture, Crafts, Flowers, Food, Miscellaneous, Nature and Sculpture. You also have one extra category which arrives empty but you can stock it with up to 24 of your own images in this User Photo facility.
With your choice of jigsaw image selected you will be offered a range of options that start with the type of puzzle. You can select from Jigsaw, Tile Swap, Split Tiles or Tile Rotation. By selecting the Jigsaw style type you will be given access to further options by selecting from six different shapes of the connected elements, whether rotation will be applied and the pieces will be scattered around the work area in a tidy, messy or anywhere manner. You can also opt for moving pieces to be included and decide how many pieces will form the puzzle.
A Tile Swap puzzle lets you select from a choice of size with an Easy, Medium or Hard difficulty. By opting for a Split Tile puzzle you will be given the chance to decide how many pieces will form the puzzle along with the same levels of difficulty as offered with a Tile Swap puzzle. A Rotation puzzle offers the same settings as those delivered by Tile Swap.
Whatever your choice of puzzle type and its associated settings, the presented work area will be overlaid with a selection of available tools. You can switch between working with edge or inner pieces, zoom in and out of the image, turn on a preview of the completed image, ask for a hint plus normalise the image view. A completed puzzle can then be saved for use as wallpaper.
With its collection of supplied images, plus support for personal images and with a varied range of features, Jigsaw Puzzle Lovers 2 is well worth considering. I downloaded my copy of the title from Gamehouse.com where it is priced at $9.99. You can also download it from Big Fish Games priced at £7.50. The game requires a 1.0 GHz processor with 256MB of RAM and 284MB of hard disk space running Windows 7 and later.
