click image to enlargeThe Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 5G measures 15.7x7.4x.8cm and weighs 192grams. The viewable screen is 15x6.8cm and this gives the notional diagonal imperial screen measurement of 6.5 inches. The screen is Quad HD+ at 3200x1440.
Going around the outside it has the volume rocker and the on/off button on the right, the base has a speaker, USB ‘C’ socket and a pin hole microphone, the right side has nothing while the top has a pin hole microphone as well as the SIM entry point.
The rear has a vertical line of three cameras that do protrude from the back of the unit; the LED flash is beside the top camera that is less than 1cm down and 1cm in from the side.
The small surrounds of the unit’s front are shiny black but the back is matt black – Samsung call this Cloud Navy - so resists showing finger marks, there are other colours available.
The front camera is very visible in the centre top of the screen 2mm down from the top of the screen but as the only things that are close to the top of the screen normally are well to the left or right of it on the home screen you really do not notice it at all in normal use.
The Home screen has two lines of four icons with the Google bar above then space before your local weather.
Flip up and you get a full page of icons and in the case of Samsung this is five lines of four with room for the search before the top, flip left for the next page of icons etc.
It has a 4500mAh battery so a good days heavy use between charges.
The processor is a 2.73GHz Snapdragon Octa-Core processor. It has 6GB RAM and 128GB of ROM with 104GB available. It can accept a micro SD card up to 1TB.
Bootup is only 15 seconds and shutdown is 3 seconds.
The three rear cameras are 12MP, 12MP and 8MP and it can take video up to UHD 8K 7680x4320 @24FPS. In slow motion mode it can capture 960FPS @HD. You get images with 3x optical zoom and up to 30x super resolution zoom. There is rather good night vision capture.

The unit has what Samsung call Infinity-O Display with three of the four sides having very thin bezels.
The phone is a 5G offering for those who have 5G in their area, it also works fine on 4G.
Vodafone have a range of pay monthly plans. £29 upfront plus £55 per month gives you 24GB of data and unlimited texts and calls is one of their options. At the time of publication the handset is also available sim free from Amazon for £699.
