For their 22nd edition of their Shopping Clutter series, Jet Dogs Studio has turned its focus to the area of Haute Couture. As usual with this series, this game is based on the virtual world of Animalville and the work of the Walker family. Since the last excursion into this environment, Animalville now has its own upmarket shopping mall and the Walker family feel that the launch of a new feature would provide an ideal boost to the new mall. Fashion and Haute Couture is the obvious choice especially as Squirrel Walker has ambitions to be a designer.
Along with the usual options of setting volume audio levels for background music and sound effects plus viewing the game in full screen mode using a special cursor, you can opt for Easy or Difficult levels with the latter implementing a time restriction feature. Following the usual pattern established by earlier titles in the series, Shopping Clutter 22 spreads itself over 20 levels of action. Each level is split between eight separate challenges made up of seven clutter clearance plus a mini game puzzle. Both the supplied levels and their content will need to be completed in a designated order in order to make the necessary progress.
While the seven clutter clearance tasks found in each level contain a mixture of items available for removal, the rules governing their type will change. Depending upon the presented list of rules, you may need to target single items, pairs of objects or even groups of three specific items. Further rules could reduce the designated targets to those from a particular category such as those found in clothing, headwear, light emitting, deserts. threads & yarns, edible items or animal figurines.
Knowing whether you need to select a single, double or triple items and its type is only part of the conditions you need to consider when selecting items. Other features that may deserve your attention could relate to issues such as size, colour and whether the required item may have been cut in half. Your choices must conform to whatever rules have been put in place for that particular challenge.
The clutter you need to work with can be displayed in different ways. Sometimes the items could be gathered together in one or two piles while you will need to delve into to explore what may be concealed somewhere within. There are also challenges where the clutter is constantly on the move around the screen at a set rate. As you remove items, additional ones will be added encased within floating bubbles just to confuse matters.
While the Hopping Clutter game has a Hint feature that can be used to pinpoint required items, this facility will need to be fed with appropriate ammunition. This comes in the form of stars that are scattered throughout the clutter. The stars need to be collected so that the Hint feature has the power to perform. For each ten stars you collect, the Hint feature can only be used once until recharged.
Earlier I mentioned that each level of the game concludes with a puzzle. Generally the puzzle with involve the recreation of a scene. This will involve moving segments around, exchanging lines or columns of the image after it has been cut into strips. Once completed the scene will be followed by a cut-scene as a member of the Walker family will do their bit towards creating the Haute Couture facility to fulfil their plans for a fashion launch.
You can download this title from Gamehouse.com where it is priced at $9.99. It is also available from Big Fish Games priced at £7.90. The game requires a 1.0 GHz processor with 512MB of RAM and 266MB of hard disk space running Windows 7 and latter.
