The Skagen Hybrid HR smartwatch has a 42mm face mine was black with similar strap. It has three buttons on the right side which can do a range of things.
Like a lot of recent watches it is controlled when you link it to your phone with an App available from the Apple or Google Play store. The initial linking should only take a few minutes while you create an account and give it some information like height and weight, these can be metric or imperial a nice touch is that one can be metric and one imperial should you wish.
Next there will probably be a firmware update which can take a few minutes to complete and then your watch should be showing the correct time on its hands. Behind the hands will be three circular windows that show the number of paces walked, your current heart rate and the external temperature even these are changeable. You can also set it up to get messages and even receive phone calls from your phone providing your phone is in range. These will appear behind the hands and by pressing a button the hands will go to the quarter past nine position so you can read the message. Other things like battery state can be shown you choose what you want to see on the face of your watch.
As I reviewed this on an Android phone the choices you make may be different in the App on an Apple phone. Certainly one piece of advice shown in FAQ about reviewing tutorials was not relevant to Android. I only discovered by accident that double tapping the screen gives a backlight for a few seconds.
The Home screen displays four coloured rings Black the outer one for steps walked, Blue for active minutes, Red for Calories burnt and light Blue for sleep hours. If you swipe up on the screen it gives details for day, week or month for each of these.
As regular readers will know the Sleep category is of great interest to me and this is displayed in three colours in a graph area for awake, light sleep and deep sleep below this a percentage and hours and minutes for each. Swipe up again for a minute by minute graph of your heart rate during the sleep period.
Other options along the base of the Home screen are Challenge, Customization, Alerts and Profile all of which have their own options, as an example you can choose who can contact you and the hours they can do so.
In fact there is a huge array of details and the one thing that seems to be missing is a User Guide on their website, that would perhaps have made use easier, but over time I am sure trial and error will produce exactly what you want to display and when.
Charging is by a magnetic dock to a USB lead but as the Profile page in the App shows battery percentage when you link it to your phone you should be given plenty of warning about needing to charge.
This is a nice watch, and, with a User Guide should be a very nice watch at a reasonable price. It is available in a number or colours and strap types from their site for £189 but if you sign up for emails you get 15% off so only £160.65.
