Here is a drive that retracts at the push of a button on the side so it’s a flat surface with no contacts exposed, push the grey end and it clicks out ready for use.
This unit also has a hole cut in the grey end to allow it to be attached to a key ring. One side slants and has the button that needs to be pushed in to allow the end to retract.
It is 4.3x1.8x.8cm and weighs 7grams.
I copied a large number of files (486) in 28 folders to the Verbatim stick and then using a USB3 drive copied them to another PC, this took 16 minutes. To check I then transferred the files again to another more powerful PC with an SSD drive this took slightly less time at a little over 15 minutes. Neither PC was doing any other processes at the time. These files were a total of 22.2GB. After formatting the Verbatim stick I copied the files and folders back in virtually the same time. The stated rate on the Verbatim site is up to 5Gbps.
For me anyway a few minutes here or there is not that important the main thing is that your data is safe and available to get back when required.
Should the worst happen then programs are able to be reinstalled all the raw data you use – if still available – would need to be retyped and that takes a long time. However if your data is stored then a few minutes and the odd curse will get it restored.
The Verbatim Store ‘n’ Click is currently only available in a 32GB unit for £9.22 from Amazon.
