The Wileyfox Swift 2 Plus has a silver grey back and sides with a black face. It measures 14x7x.7cm and weighs 162 grams. The diagonal imperial screen measurement is 5inches. The screen resolution is 1280x720 the whole unit has a two year warranty. This can be increased by a year to three years with a £14.99 fee that includes screen replacement so if you tend to drop or regularly mistreat your phone it could be a good investment.
The screen is Gorilla Glass and the unit is constructed with aviation grade aluminium.
While it runs the recent Android Marshmallow (6.01) this also has Cyanogen and their level is called Elderberry (5). Having the two working together means that shut down is increased to 6 seconds and start up 51 seconds.
At the left of the top is the 3.5mm socket for headphones, the right side has the volume up/down rocker and the on/off button. The base has the USB C connection with the unit’s twin speakers either side of that. The left side has the entry point for your Sim (or SIMs) and micro SD Card.
The top of the back has the unit’s 16MP camera with the 8MP Selfie offering on the face centrally mounted above the screen. It can capture HD video at 30fps. The 2700mAh battery is sealed in the back of the unit and is not user replaceable.
It comes with 32GB of storage and on first use it has 24GB of this available. Whatever Micro SD card you use will expand this.
I mentioned one or two SIMs -one Micro and one Nano- if you opt for two then you will not be able to have a micro SD card.
A lot was put on the fact that you can charge the battery to 25% in 15 minutes, 50% in 30 minutes and 75% in 45 minutes, however this does require a special charger that is not supplied.
The processor is an Octo (8) core processor running at 1.4GHz.
Apart from the rather slow boot up the rest of its use was fine, switching between open programs was rapid as was surfing the WWW on Wi-Fi, it of course has Bluetooth which has a range of uses other than the obvious one of playing music from the SmartPhone.
While the screen shows finger marks it is not as bad as some other units that have passed over my desk recently.
As stated by unit I used was silver grey and black but I see from the Wileyfox site that it is also available in Gold.
The Wileyfox 2 Plus is currently available from Amazon for £183.85 with free delivery.
