This is the latest ink tank unit that can print, scan and copy. Early versions required very careful filling of ink tanks, now this is easy and there is no chance of spilling even a drop of ink. The unit itself is smaller and best of all no difficult questions to try an answer as you link it into your network.

The Canon Maxify GX3050 measures 40x40x19cm; add another 13cm to the depth when you pull out the tray to receive printed sheets.
I would say that that installation time from removing the various bits of tape to having downloaded the software inserted the contents of four bottles of ink and printed a test sheet at around 35 minutes. Everything is easy from the small 2.5cm square screen on the unit, and indeed from your PC.
There are two paper trays, 250 sheet capacity in the base of the unit and a smaller rear unit ideal for thicker photo paper or thin card which I see is stated to hold 100 sheets.
The onscreen display offers a choice of three words one below the others controlled by the four arrows immediately to the right of the display; they are Copy, Scan and Maintenance. Printing is always initiated from your PC.
There are six other well marked buttons on the face on the front of the unit. There seems no way to alter the position of this unit which if you are well above the unit could be a problem.
Below this is the paper output and below that the main input tray. Either side are indications of the level of the ink in the unit, black to the left and the three colours Blue, Red and Yellow to the right.
The flatbed scanner is on the top and the power lead input back right at the base. Above this somewhat inset is the optional USB connection but no lead is provided.
As stated this was the easiest install I have ever done, often in the past when trying to set up Wi-Fi on a unit I had to resort to a USB lead to find it and no difficult questions like MAC address to answer.
The front display once you have selected Scan or Copy will let you choose any options or choices before you select if you want colour or monochrome.
As always I print on a range of weighs of paper and never had a single paper jam.
Scanning was excellent as was the copying and the print quality was always clear and sharp.
My one slight gripe was the fixed position of the display which required bending to read and select as the place I used it was perhaps lower than most.
