8 Floor Games has released its latest collection of images from its 1001 series. This particular addition is entitled 1001 Jigsaw Legends of Mystery 5. As usual with this entry in the series of Jigsaw image collection, its content is spread over five books containing the images. Each book contains 100 images that are presented in photo album style as you flip through pages to make your selection of puzzle image to work with.
This Jigsaw puzzle collection can be set up to allow different people to solve individual puzzles when working at their own speed. Options are available to adjust volume levels for sound effects and background music. There is also a choice of viewing the images using three different screen resolutions for displaying its content.
When making your selection of current image for your puzzle, you will be provided with the default number of pieces making up the puzzle. With this collection that number could be any figure between 10 and 252. Accompanying this number will be a symbol that will indicate whether the puzzle would have been assigned a rotation feature or not regarding its placement.
Once an image has been selected then you will be offered a choice of various options regarding making adjustment regarding the image's feature. You can adjust the number of pieces making up the puzzle and either apply or removing a rotation facility. When adjusting the number of pieces you can also select from a selection of design options regarding how the pieces link together.
When satisfied with your adjustments, the pieces will then be transferred to a work area where the pieces will be randomly scattered around ready for you to begin putting them together. A concealed pocket, hidden in the top left corner of the screen, can be used to temporally store pieces until required. This can be a useful attribute when clearing space for larger puzzle sizes.
The original set of tools will be replaced by a second set that have been assigned to assist your solving. You can opt to show a completed view of the image or show it as a ghost image on to which you can build up your view of the image. There is an option to allow you to work initially on the border of the puzzle by temporarily hiding inner pieces until required.
A magnifying tool allows you to zoom into areas for a closer look. Using the mouse pointer you can select single or groups of pieces by either a left button click or drag and drop. You also have the ability to turn a piece with a right mouse click if the rotation option had been selected.
At the completion of a Jigsaw, you will be advised as to the time taken and a points score. However apart from some satisfaction at solving the puzzle, there is little else you can do with your success. You can download this title from Gamehouse.com where it is priced at $9.99. The game requires a 1.0 GHz processor with 512MB of RAM and 124MB of hard disk space running Windows 7 and later.
