Even video recorders come with SCART sockets these days, not to
mention DVD players, Digital TV boxes, Cable TV boxes, Camcorders and
of course all those gaming systems. If you have a recent TV then you
may have two SCART sockets, more likely it is only one.
This black box is 18.5x7.5x3cm, on one end is the power adaptor
input. The top has five SCART plugs. The one on the left goes to the
back of the TV via a SCART lead (not supplied) the other four are
available for any devices you want to connect to the TV, in most cases
auto sensing will know the unit you wish to use. I am told some devices
such as certain cameras, or game systems cannot smart detect and they
should be plugged into input 4 as this is the way the unit defaults
down to.

As stated this a powered device for two purposes, one to enable the
built in loop through so you can record from set top box whilst
watching a DVD or playing a game as examples, secondly to power the
built in signal amplifier.
The documentation with the unit I saw was two A4 sheets but the six
different clearly defined diagrams should cover most likely scenarios
and certainly should give you a good idea if your combination is not
catered for.
In use I found I always got what I was expecting so either I was lucky - not likely - or I can follow the logical instructions.
I have one small niggle, why not supply a SCART lead with the unit,
yes it would increase the price slightly but unless you have more than
four SCART devices then you are unlikely to have a spare SCART lead.
The alternative would be to simply do away with the left most SCART
socket and just hard wire into the unit with a SCART plug on the end of
the lead.
Even though there is a website it seems to automatically redirect to
another that deals with another of the companies products. I will give
a phone number for those who want more information 01763 263120, the
unit should be available for less than £35.
