They are 20x8x12cm and while by far the simplest way of taking sound from your PC or notebook is via USB and these speakers do that they also need a mains connection to work. If you only have USB then you are still catered for by an adapter in the box but natively the connection is USB ‘C’ and the lead to the master speaker is 1.2metres, the lead from the hardwired slave unit to the plug in to the master unit is 2metres, finally the lead from the master to power brick mains unit is 1.5metres.
The connections on the rear of the main unit not yet described are a 3.5mm socket for auxiliary input, headphones out and a separate 3.5mm microphone socket.
The controls on the face of the unit are all near the base of the unit with a volume knob and below this in a line three touch buttons each with an LED above. They are on/off, surround sound and clear dialog.
The surround sound was rather good given the overall size of the speakers.
The clear dialog was excellent especially when on Skype, Zoom or other such applications and would also be good for gamers.
The total power is 30W and output is 75dB.
The choice of connections includes Bluetooth and Auxiliary as well direct connection via USB ‘C’ or USB via supplied dongle.
While other speakers can probably match the volume output and while there is a good amount of bass I doubt it would satisfy those who like their fillings to rattle.
What this does do is allow you to hear clearly the speech of others even those whose dialects can sometimes prove difficult.
Ease of use is the thing with USB connections just plug in and wait a few seconds to then be connected.
I have reviewed other sets of speakers recently – even another set from Creative – that did not require the mains power input and this could put some off when using them connected to a notebook on battery power as you would still need to find mains power.
However ‘horses for courses’ and check how you will use them and if you would like surround sound and need clear speech then these are for you.
The Creative T60 speakers are available from the link below for £69.99 but when I clicked the link I was offered £5 off my first purchase so £64.99.
