How can one speaker enclosure + sub woofer give surround sound, sorry you are not going to get a technical answer from me, I will just say the sound it gives is excellent.

My biggest problem is spaghetti, every time I move a PC wires that
were installed separately have all knotted themselves in a way that
would test a Queens Scout. So while the sound from a 5.1 system is nice
what is far less nice is seven sets of wires!
So when I saw this unit I was interested and having tested it with both PC and MP3 output I am impressed.
The main speaker enclosure has three 8watt speakers within its 20cm
height and it is rectangular in shape at around 19x19cm at the top. The
base is the same size and then there is sculptured shape (a central
pillar) until the top 8cm where the three speakers are. The sub woofer
is 20watt and is 27x20x19cm there are separate volume controls on both
the main module and the sub woofer. I can assure you that with the bass
turned up you will be able to annoy the neighbours should you live in a
flat.
The only leads from the main speaker is a single lead to a PC or if
you have dual output then a supplied one to two lead is provided. A
lead with a 5pin din goes to the sub woofer and a power lead runs from
the sub woofer to the mains.
Thats basically it, so two wires from the speaker to the sub woofer
and one from the sub woofer to the mains. So now the subjective bit,
whats the sound quality like. I spent days using it as my main audio
outlet and I can say MP3 never sounded better. I tried several
different MP3 players and I also connected the unit to a PC that
normally has a pair of Labtec speakers. These are not top of the range
but nowhere near entry level either, but I would certainly swap with
the Troja. Stereo on a PC is always somewhat stilted simply because of
lack of distance between speakers. So having three speakers all in a
single case making use of 270 degrees work well provided you are
somewhere near central. As always a sub woofer works best at ground
level and certainly so if you have a wooden floor even if it is
carpeted.
I have a DVD player that I normally output to the TV (always poor
speakers in all but the top level TV units) so I was not surprised at
vastly better sound quality especially in the bass lines with the unit
connected and then the TV just used for picture.
You only get a thin twelve page manual and this is divided between
five languages but the two pages devoted to GB explain all you need to
know.
If like me you want better sound but cannot stand more spaghetti
then this single speaker enclosure with three speakers sounds great.
The sub woofer works well even if you use it as I did for some tests
with the speaker unit on top of the sub woofer. The price is £104, well
worth it, to lose the spaghetti.
