There are products that are born just to be looked at. Screwpull corkscrews are made to be used, caressed and admired adoringly.
Screwpull manages to do for corkscrews what Alessi did for the humble lemon squeezer - it pulls us in with its luscious looks. I remember well the design class in which I first heard about Alessi and saw the truly iconic lemon squeezer. Now you may not know Alessi, but I'm sure you'll recognise his designs (think War of the Worlds creatures and you've got an Alessi lemon squeezer). The purpose of this type of product is not just to do the job. After all you can get a lemon squeezer or corkscrew down the pound shop to do that. The reason we buy statement products is that they do just that - make a loud noise about who we are, what we can afford and the lifestyles we aspire to.
Care goes into every detail of the Screwpull corkscrew from the solid black box that has the weight and feel of a closet for a diamond necklace to the look and feel of the product itself. On opening the box you are not disappointed. Cossetted inside is a polished metal corksrew gleaming up and you saying "You'll look so good at your next dinner party with me at your side!" Yes, I know I'm sounding rather corny - but it's true!!
The Screwpull LM-350B corkscrew comes with its own display cradle, so you can lovingly position it on your minimalistic marble encrusted kitchen surfaces.
Looks aside it does a darn good job of removing a corkscrew efficiently with the minimum of effort - the same with the cork. Apparently after 2000 corks the metal screw may need changing. Oh well that's not too much hardship is it!
At £79 this is an expensive corkscrew - if you want cheap you'll have to go to the supermarket. If you want to say somthing about yourself, or the person you are gifting it to, then the price justifies itself. Hence Screwpull's value for money, if we are really talking value for image, is fab!
The brand new Screwpull corkscrew LM-350B costs £79 and is available from Le Creuset stockists including John Lewis, where they'll include free delivery. You'll find lots of its friends there too.
