Power Portability

Although laptops are increasingly being purchase in the guise of a desktop replacement unit, many still require some means of being transported from one location to another. Shoulder or rucksack type bags are the most common means used for carrying these repositories of our business and personal data when we are on the move. With the advancement of modern technology we also need to consider the need to also transport items such as a battery charger, mobile phone, PDA and a plethora of leads to combat most eventualities. If you fall into this group of users then APC (American Power Company) believes it has the product to fulfil your needs.
This is its TravelPower Case which is constructed of Ballistic Nylon. I have to be honest and say that I have no idea what this term means but the case certainly feels strong enough to cope with the rigours of various types of travelling. Measuring 41.40 x 3785 x 14,73cm (H x W x D), this case has both a carrying handle and non-slip shoulder strap with re-enforced clips. There is also a security strap for attaching the case to a trolley. All the various seams of the case are doubled stitched and the various zippers move smoothly.
It is hard to know where to start with this case as it has various compartments, pouches of different sizes and some extra goodies that APC feels will make life easier for the compulsive road warrior. However as the main purpose of this case is to facilitate the carrying of various items of electronic equipment lets deal with that aspect first.
The large central compartment houses the laptop and has shock absorbing padding on all sides. Rather than opt for a restraining strap to hold the laptop secure, this APC case has a padded pouch to keep the laptop firmly in place. A second large pouch and four smaller ones can also be found in this central compartment.
Two further compartments, each with an additional external zip enclosed pocket for holding papers and other items that might be needed for time to time, are positioned on either side of the case. One of these compartments contains pouches for various smaller devices such as a mobile phone and PDA plus a see-through mesh organiser pouch for oddments and a removal pouch for various personal belongings. Rubberised feet help stabilise the bag so it does not tip over when items are removed.
Earlier I mentioned extra goodies. These goodies compliment an additional feature of this travelling case. As you might expect with APCs many years experience in the field of manufacturing UPS (Uninterrupted Power Supply) units, the company realises the importance of being able to get power when you need it. This case has been designed to help achieve this ability.
The case comes bundled with a couple of APC developed adapter kits. The TravelPower Adaptor kit consists of a 75 watt power adapter with a 6ft coiled cord and two USB charging ports. Using the supplied plugs, you can then attach the laptop or any device that can be recharged via USB to a power source. The second kit (International Notebook Plug Adapter Kit) consists of a number of adapters that can be used in different countries. A carrying case is included for these adapters. The combination of these adapters and the design of the TravelPower Case mean you can recharge your various devices without even removing them from the case.
While the price of £89.99 might seem a tad expensive for a carry case, you do get excellent quality plus the bundled adapters. The TravelPower Case is more suited to the regular traveller who would benefit from the additional features.
