Motorola Edge 20 Pro

The latest offering from Vodafone to cross my desk is the Motorola Edge 20 Pro, this SmartPhone feels nice and well balanced in your hand and comes supplied with a silicon back and sides cover. While the face is of course shiny black it remains almost mirror like as finger marks do not tend to show, the back is a shimmering midnight blue.

The Motorola Edge 20 Pro measures 15.5x7x.8cm apart from the rectangular area top left of the back which takes it to close to 1cm thick, however with the cover that increase is almost negated, the units weight is 186 grams. The viewable screen is 15.3x6.5cm which give the notional diagonal imperial measurement of 6.67inches and a screen refresh rate of 144Hz and a screen size of 1080x2400 pixels.

Going around the outside has the volume rocker high up on the right side with the on/off button below it. The base has speaker, USB ‘C’ port and SIM entry point. The left side near the top has a ‘Google’ button. The top has a microphone. On the back there is a line of three buttons near the top left in a 4x2cm raised area and beside them is an LED flash.

The processor is a Qualcomm Snapdragon Octa Core running at up to 3.2GHz. It has 12GB RAM and 256GB of memory. It is Android 11 and Bluetooth 5.1.

Like almost all recent phones the cameras are the highlight. The rear offerings are 108MP f/1.9, 16MP f/2.2 and 8MP f/3.4 while the front selfie offering is 32MP f/2.25. Super zoom at up to 50x is available.

For those capturing video 8k @ 24FPS, 4k @ 60FPS and 1080p super slow motion at 960FPS.

The battery is 4500mAh which is stated to last 30 hours, it has fast charging ability and you should get nine hours of use in only ten minutes with 30 watt charging.

This SmartPhone is also supplied with a ‘Ready For’ 1metre USB ‘C’ to HDMI cable so your phone output can be shown on any HDMI panel or most TV’s. This means that those movies you downloaded over 5G can now be seen from the comfort of your sofa.

If you have a Wi-Fi router then you can view your movies on your TV without any cables using Wi-Fi but that will require a Wi-Fi 6 router look for a review of one of these shortly.

Boot up is 14sec and 2 sec shutdown. With the exception of strong sunlight right onto the screen it is easy to read in all conditions.

This is one of the nicest phones to have crossed my desk recently and while I still do not have 5G in my locale I have travelled to some nearby areas that do so fast uploads and downloads are available.

While the body is plastic the front is glass and with the silicon back and sides protected it is nice to hold.

It is available from Vodafone on a range on contracts. One such is £24.17 upfront on a 36 month contract for £10.83 month; however you can build your own dependent on the amount of data you require.
