Most flat panels have speakers built in, however in order to keep the panel thin the speakers are not that great. The same is true for most Laptops and Notebooks in facts the majority put the speakers underneath so sound is projected directly into the desk or whatever it is rested upon. So should you want to watch a movie or three or listen to music you need something better, here is one such solution the Creative Sound Bar.

click image to enlargeMost Soundbars are longer and are designed to give you more sound and better quality sound from your TV. This unit designed to do the same from your PC, Laptop, Phone, Tablet and according to the instruction sheet also from PS4, PS5 and Nintendo switch.
This unit can use the USB cable to take music from a PC, it can also use 3.5mm socket from audio devices or connect to any Bluetooth device.
It is 7cm tall 40.5cm long at the front 37.5cm long at the back and 8cm deep. It weighs 1107grams. The base has two 6cm long and 1.3cm wide rubber feet that run front to back. The front has a LED behind the mesh that shines when it is powered on. The left side is clear. The back has 3.5mm and USB ‘C’ connector slightly recessed towards the right edge. The final controls are on the right edge with a long volume rocker with on/off in its centre and behind this a Bluetooth button.
The colour of the LED varies according to how you are using it, Bluetooth/cable/3.5mm connection.
Without power the internal battery should last up to six hours.
Something like this is great for watching videos where what is normally perfectly respectable volume levels have you scrambling for the volume up button and to no avail, attach this by any of the available methods and you can once again hear what is being said.
The total output is 20W but it’s not just the uptake of volume it is also the depth and clarity that it gives.
While this is mainly designed for the items as mentioned above the User Guide sheet also shows a TV and while most sound bars designed for TV’s would connect via Optical I did manage to connect via the 3.5mm socket on my TV to gain that missing volume from – I was going to say old – movies but even recent made for TV suffer from lack of volume.
This is a marvellous unit and being able to use it for several hours without mains is a plus especially for those who suffer frequent power cuts.
At the time of publication the Creative Sound Bar Stage Air V2 is available from Amazon for £34.99.
