click image to enlargePutting it another way as the Quick Start Guide does, this is a ‘Tri-Amplified Multi Channel Super X-Fi Gaming Sound bar with compact Subwoofer’
So while designed for games – hence the subwoofer – it works perfectly well for TV and indeed for Audio.
The sound bar is quite small ideal for those who do not have 55 inch or larger TV’s but still want to hear the sound clearly of films and not just the older ones.
The Sound Blaster KATANA V2X soundbar is 59cm long at the rear and 56 long at the front; it is 6cm tall and 8cm from front to back. The connections are in a single in the centre of the back, HDMI, SXFI out, USB ‘C’, 3.5mm in, Optical in, Output to Sub-Woofer and DC input.
The sub-woofer is 32cm tall, 11cm wide and 25cm from front to back. The only connection is the hard wired lead on the back that connects to the main unit. The speaker is on the right side.
There is a huge fold out multi language Quick Start Guide that has well documented illustrations to explain all the connections as well as the six touch buttons on the top of the main unit two of which have LED’s behind them. There is a 16x3cm display on the front of the main unit that shows you which of the five outputs you are in six seconds after switch on they are Optical, Auxiliary, Bluetooth, TV and USB. It will show for a moment any increase of decrease in volume shown as a number.
There is also a 15x4x2cm remote control that requires two ‘AAA’ batteries (not supplied). The remote has 31 buttons including a five position joystick control.
For Gamers sound is not the enjoyment of a game, it is often life or death. The depth of sound from the sub-woofer is almost as good as being in a cinema environment.
At the time of publication the Sound Blaster Katana is available from Amazon for £279.99.
