Xiaomi has announced the launch of the company's POCO F2 Pro in the UK.  This handset device has been tailored to meet the demands of the tech enthusiast by prioritising performance over frills while coming with the original price point of £549.  As yet I have not has the opportunity to lay my hands or eyes on this handset to check it out.  My report is, therefore, limited to the information provided by the company.

The POCO F2 Pro has the Snapdragon™ 865 Mobile Platform driving it as it delivers fast processing speeds and a full-screen viewing experience.  Described as the most powerful 5G processor on the market, the Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 865 is paired with a Kryo™ 585 octa-core chip processor and Adreno™ 650 GPU with both promise 25% improved performance over their predecessor.  Supporting this set-up is ultra high-speed LPDDR5 RAM and the latest UFS 3.1 storage.

To ensure this handset can deliver the best performance, Xiaomi has gone with LiquidCool Technology 2.0.  This technology ensures that the POCO F2 Pro has the largest vapour chamber available on the market with multiple stacks of graphite and graphene.  This combination helps keep the device cool and sustain peak performance even under heavy activity loads.  The whole system has been optimised for power users and is TÜV Rheinland High Gaming Performance certified.

Featuring a 6.67 inch AMOLED ultimate full screen display, the POCO F2 Pro comes with Corning® Gorilla® Glass 5 protecting the front and rear of the device.  The display has a contrast ratio of 5000000:1 and a brightness of 500 nits (typ) / 800 nits (HBM) giving the user a comfortable viewing experience at any time of the day.  This is achieved by a 360 degree triple ambient light sensor delivering accurate ambient light detection and smooth brightness adjustment.

The POCO F2 Pro's photography capability consists of a 64MP quad rear camera arrangement and a 20MP front mounted pop-up camera.  The rear-mounted quad camera set-up is made up of 64MP + 13MP (123 degree ultra wide-angle lens) + 5MP (macro) + 2MP (depth sensor) units to bring a range of features and settings.  The handset's camera set-up includes ultra-high definition video recording at 8K (24fps) and 4K (60fps).  Control over focus and exposure is provided.  The front-mounted 20MP pop-up camera has a multicolour notification light to help minimise front screen bezels without compromising camera quality.  This 20MP pop-up camera can capture 120fps slow motion video.

Providing the power for this handset is a high-capacity 4,700 mAh battery.  When charging this battery, you can take advantage of its swift 30W fast charge capability.  This feature can refuel the device to a 64% level in just 30 minutes and deliver a complete fill-up in 63 minutes via the handset's Type C USB connection.  The POCO F2 Pro comes with a 33W in-box charger providing power-up experience on the go.

With support for WiFi 6, the POCO F2 Pro promises to deliver a hyper-fast connectivity experience with speeds of 9.6Gbps.  This device integrates a multi-link connection across 2.4G WiFi, 5G WiFi and mobile data.
