For those not familiar with the ESET HOME Security product, this software is available in Essentials, Premium and Ultimate flavours. Depending upon the specific version, ESET HOME Security will deliver features such as Antivirus & Antispyware protection, Firewall coverage, Ransomeware Shield, Anti-phishing, Safe Banking & Browsing, Password Manager and VPN capability. To these features ESET has added a number of new and improved facilities to protect the user from unwanted outside influences. These new features will include a new Folder Guard, Multithread Scanning and an improved Gamer mode.
Firing up this latest version of the ESET HOME Security will advise you of the new features found in the software. By providing the user with the New Folder Guard, this latest ESET offering will enable files to be protected from modification or deletion by applications that were not trusted. Also introduced in this version of the software is Multithread Scanning, a feature which allows multi-core processors to spread the work load by distributing and scan requests among available CPU cores thus reducing possible pressure issues.
As part of its Identify Protection facility, the ESET software will scour websites that are on the dark web. It will look of evidence that your personal information might have been compromised and is being used for unauthorised purposes. If found then alerts will be sent to the user so that the necessary action can be taken to block the threat.
Along with the new features, other aspects of the Security software have been improved. Many gamers will appreciate the improved Gamer Mode which has been improved so that the user can create their own list of apps that will automatically start in game mode. There is also an option to display interactive alerts should they appear during a gamer mode session.
The software's Password Manager has undergone a bit of a spring clean. You now have the ability to check your current password against a breach list. You will be able to view a security report that will identify a weak or password that has been duplicated before making any necessary adjustments.
