Light Strike from WowWee
This is so new that it only just made this last part of my Christmas toys and games features. It is a range of products. If you are anti toy guns then perhaps you should move on to the second item in my last feature.
Laser Quest and other such things are extremely popular - and not just with the very young – often played in special arenas and wooded areas, I have in the past been dragged into such a pursuit myself where special clothing is used, this is somewhat different but it is not just one toy but a range so you can add different modules.
While it is a toy – and no one should be hurt by any projectile – it is also very sophisticated with fingerprint identification to keep the unit from being used by others. It has lots of lights and sounds to keep the interest up. I paste here a link to one of their TV adverts http://www.light-strike.co.uk/tv/ I am told there is also a tie up between Light Strike and the Cartoon Network, take the /tv off the end of the link for general information.
The entry level gun is the Light Strike Pistol ideal to practice you accuracy and get used to the sounds and lights. Enemy Scanner enables you to find where your opponents are up to ten metres away. A strap on add on to the Light Strike Assault Gun is available to give you rapid firing called a Rapid-Fire Machine Bi-Pod. Perhaps the Light Strike Grenade Launcher will be your weapon of choice. The Light Strike Target shows when it has been hit.
For me anyway the best add on (I am no longer young and only time restraints stopped my normal volunteers having fun with the products) is the Light Scribe Scope which increases the firing range to 100feet (30 metres).
The link I have included above to most of these gives likely prices and where they will be available.
The main weapon is available from the link below for £39.95 with free delivery.

Travel Pass The Bomb
This ball shaped device is only a bomb in the way that it will ‘go off’ IE your time is up to solve the puzzle set. There is no huge bang and no damage.
The object of the game is to form words from the letters on the cards, the give you an idea of how small the cards are 5x3cm.
Each card has either two or three letters on it on both sides. To get the bomb working you will need 3x‘AAA’ batteries not supplied and it will explode at a random time between 10 and 60 seconds so you need to be quick to make your word. The letters can be at the start middle or end of the word but must be contiguous.
Travel Pass The Bomb is available from the link below for £11.99 including free delivery.

Shut The Box from Gibson’s.
This is exactly the same as the game I first described in Toys & Games 4 on the 25-9-11. The only thing to add is that the box the numerals you flip over the dice and indeed the instruction sheet are all smaller.
The box is 12x12x2.5cm in all other ways it is the same. Ideal for those occasions where a larger board is just not possible. Check the Gibson’s website for details and indeed for their other ‘smaller’ versions.
Mini Shut The Box is available from the link below for £9.56 including free delivery.
