While I am not a gamer – my three score and ten and more years – take care of that. You need three things good reflexes, a quality panel with fast refresh rate and good sound, the last mentioned is taken care of by the Firestorm headset.

When you remove the headset from the box you think you have a good headset by the braided lead, the padded headband and earpieces and gold plated connectors. As soon as you plug the 3.5mm lead in and hear the quality your suspicions are confirmed this is quality piece of kit for a very reasonable price.
For those who need to communicate a 15cm long microphone is included which plugs into the base of the headset and then twists to a position of your choice. I tested the microphone with a Skype call and the receiver was happy with the clarity of the call.
For a gamer to survive they need to hear the slightest sound and while my tests were with standard audio I keep a range of files that include some very quiet sounds like a conductors baton and the turning of musical scores that with normal speakers are often not heard.
These cover the whole gamut of musical tastes and include some voice files and some of these are in the higher registers that are often hard to hear.
While not intended for use as a corded headset for audio it would do the job very well.
The orange and black braided lead is two metres long and 30cm from the headset is a control to change the volume level and to also mute the microphone if appropriate.
Each arm has 3.5cm of adjustment.
When fully extended there is 20cm between the base of the earpieces to the inside of the padded headband.
If the sides are parallel there is 15cm between the cups, these are on ear and from side to side they are 8.5cm with 10.5cm top to bottom and there is 2cm of padding.
The aluminium frame makes them flexible, light but also solid.
These have great sound quality from the quietest upward.
Apart from the various 3.5mm audio sockets I used them in they are stated to be compatible with PC, Mac and PS4.
For the stated price of £29.99 they are great value and I see currently there is six months Spotify Premium free on offer for new subscribers.
