Lots of Things

AVI Games has continued with its affection for Raccoons and Hidden Object game play with the release of its next title.

Appropriately named Lots of Things, this title is available in Collector's Edition format with a number of bonus items bundled with the main action and content plus a number of Raccoons to collect.  Rather than give the player a choice with regards to difficulty levels, the game mixes together a choice of Hidden Object game play and various types of puzzles.  These have been grouped into specific categories dealing with certain subject matter.  The main game has 15 different categories that cover topics such as Medieval Age, Camping, Confectionary, Arts, Office, Sports, School and Garden.

In each case the player is presented with four distinct challenges covering aspects of Hidden Object game play and puzzle solving set out within a set pattern.  While you will need to follow the different main categories in the order in which they are shown, you are given the freedom to tackle the four challenges in whatever order you wish.  I tended to mix my choice of selection with each category.

The four challenges are made up of two Hidden Object offerings plus two puzzle style games.  One of the Hidden Object games will follow a standard variety as it presents its required listing in text, silhouettes or pattern format  The Hidden Object scenes will also contain a Raccoon that will need to be found for the best score.  Some of the required items in the list will be concealed within an area indicated by an outbreak of sparkles.  This hidden Object challenge comes with options for a Zoom and Hint features.

The second Hidden Object challenge will require you to find a specific number of particular nominated items or items that match in some way.  You will also need to collect pieces of a jigsaw that can be used to form an image required for the search.  With this Hidden Object challenge, the Zoom facility is removed, leaving just a Hint feature for use when needed.

One of the pair of puzzles will involve the creation of a scene.  This task could require moving strips around to create the scene or swapping around segments so that they slot into their correct positions.  In other cases you will need to replace cut-out portions of the scene into their appropriate positions.  While no Hint feature is on offer, you can Skip this puzzle if in a hurry to move on.

The second puzzle challenge could involve creating cups of coffee, reconstructing ancient statues or moving counters between areas.  Other tasks could require you to create a maze to deliver water to flowers, link stones in a colour sequence or arranging a Sudoku square.  As with the other puzzle, you do not have the benefit of a Hint feature but you can opt to skip the puzzle.

Once the main collection of games have been completed, you will be able to try out the additional bonus categories and puzzles.  There is also access to various wallpapers and a music player.  Fans of Hidden Object and puzzle solving should enjoy this title.

I downloaded my copy of this game from Gamehouse.com where it is priced at $19.99.  It can also be downloaded from Big Fish Games priced at £15.79.  The game requires a 1.6 GHz processor with 1024MB of RAM and 481MB of hard disk space running Windows 7 and later.
