PortraitPro 24

Do you own some photos that you would like to improve without spending a lot of money to either have it done professionally or via some rather expensive software that probably assumes you know more than you actually do? If this is the case then this software could be the answer.

I can only comment on the '24' version which shows a number of items as new. The obvious place to start is with a girl/lady who often feel that their hair or make up could be better, however this also caters for boys/men with various face improvements like teeth where not only the smile can be improved by getting rid of that dodgy tooth but a wide range.

There is a wonderful tutorial showing the before and after as you can change the 'Shape' skin can be 'Smoothed' image 'Lighting' and 'Colouring' lack of 'Make Up' and then more specialised areas to cover 'Eyes'. 'Nose', 'Mouth' and 'Hair' both shape and Colour. This is just step one of six steps of that tutorial.

Of course the real test is not to go to far and make someone unrecognisable and just to get them look their best and this is even more important when working with vintage images.

Some of the new features of the '24' version are 'Mouth Painting' and 'Teeth Replacing'. If you glasses are reflecting then this can be removed. 'Face Recovery' sounds dramatic and the trick here is to keep it reasonable. 'Skin and Hair Masks' can be used sensibly to cover an imperfection as well as total removal of it.

Their is a 'Gender and Age Detector' which seemed to work correctly.

So far I have managed to avoid mentioning 'AI' but it seems to be the main component in most if not all of the improvements in the '24' version.

Another important feature is to remove face blur and this makes the original look like it was meant to.

The whole process works by you following the numerous tutorials and these then seamlessly make the same improvements to your image as they do with their examples.

There are three versions PortraitPro £49.95, PortraitPro Studio £79.95 and PortraitPro Studio Max £154.95.

You need a minimum of 8GB RAM but 16GB works better with large images over 8MP. A screen display of 1280x800 or better. I used it with both Windows 10 and Windows 11 it is also stated to work with MAC.
