This is a new phone brand – to me anyway – it comes from Nigeria and seems to be a good build quality with components to match. My initial observations note that the rear mounted cameras seem to extend by more than a normal amount from the rest of the case.

The Infinix Zero 8 measures 17x7.5x.8cm but the last figure increases to 1cm where the diamond shape area that holds its cameras protrudes. It weighs 207 grams. The viewable screen is 16x7.3cm the corner to corner measurement is 6.85 inches and the screen has 1080x2460 pixels.
Going around the outside has the volume rocker and the on/off and fingerprint reader on the right side. The base has speaker, microphone, USB ‘C’ connector and 3.5cm socket for headphones. The left side has SIM and Micro SD Card entry point. The top is totally clear, this leaves the back that is dominated by the diamond that holds the cameras this starts .5cm from the top and there is close to 2cm clear on each side. The pattern on the back makes the top 8cm of the phone look more prominent than the rest, it is an optical illusion.
It has 8GB RAM and 128GB of internal memory. This can be increased by an OTG device to the USB ‘C’ port which will turn off after ten minutes of connection automatically, I assume this is to save battery but as this is a 4500mAh offering this seems strange. The processor is a Helio G90T.
This unit comes with Android 10 and at the time of launch this was the latest version.
Bootup time is a very respectable twelve seconds and shutdown is five seconds.
Children are well catered for with no less than twelve inviting looking games available for immediate download so dad ‘better keep mum’ or neither of them will get to use their phone.
The front screen has a line of five icons near the base that are always available they are phone, messages, alphabetical list of Apps, camera and Chrome. Above this two lines of five icons further up the screen digital clock with day and date below and higher still the Google bar and finally the normal top line mix of battery state, signal strength and ISP etc. There is a 1.5x.5cm notch for the forward facing camera. Swipe right to left for the rest of your Apps or use the alphabetic list icon.
So that leads me onto the cameras the front offering for selfies has its own flash rather than expecting a bright screen to do the job, there is also a wide selfie mode that is rather good. The rear cameras are 48MP dual offering and a 64MP quad camera and together the images they capture make this a ‘photo phone’.
A few words about AI here it can give far more light than is in an area to produce a virtually grain free image without the use of flash great for places where flash should not or cannot be used.
The Infinix Zero 8 will be available for £230 but as yet no UK link is available I will add it when it’s available.
