My unit came with a US keyboard – I would think any you buy in this country would have a UK keyboard – I mention this mainly because instead of the initial boot up taking 15 minutes it took 30 minutes this could be because of downloading updates to include the AI stuff or possibly the UK keyboard etc. all you are told is that it is downloading updates.
It weighs 1368 grams and is 31.5x22.5x1.5cm at the back it is .5cm less at the front. Open the lid and the viewable screen is 31x19.5cm which gives the notional diagonal imperial measurement of 14 inches. On the centre of the top of the screen surround is a web-cam. The screen display is 2560x1400.
Moving down to the keyboard there is a 2.5cm border on both sides and behind, the clearance in front is 9cm with the 11x7.5cm trackpad mounted centrally in this area.
The 80 key keyboard has full size alpha and numeric keys.
The processor is a Qualcomm Snapdragon running at 3.42GHz. It has 16GB RAM and has a 1TB SSD with around 950GB free when first used.
It comes with Windows 11 Home version 24H2 64bit ARM version and a 30 day trial of McAfee software plus a three month trial of Microsoft games. It also has Co Pilot to access AI and in my tests managed to bring things in. If like me you are new to using AI in Windows this is a good way to intro integrating it.
Shutdown is just 4 seconds and boot up is 14 seconds. Once you press a key the backlight stays on for close to 20 seconds.
While there are many ways to state the speed the one I use that does it all is the time taken to restore the unit to new by deleting everything and then reinstalling to a new start up. Here it took just 15mins.
The Acer Swift 14 AI is available direct from Acer for £1199.99.
