HP Notebook Firefly G11 Workstation

This is a notebook from the HP range marketed under the Firefly Poly label and unlike most other notebooks does not just have a 30 day trial of A/V software it comes with a possible 15 months for no charge, now that is a useful addition.

This is a 14inch Windows 11 notebook, its dimensions are 31x22x1cm at the front and 1.5cm at the back it weighs 1500 grams.

Going around the outside has HDMI, USB, two USB 'C' and an LED on the left, the front is clear, the right side has Kensington Lock port, USB and a 3.5mm socket for audio, the back is clear as the screen goes back to near 180 degrees. The base has two thin horizontal rubber bars to keep the unit off whatever you are resting it on.

Open the lid and there is .5cm clear either side of the screen, 1cm is clear above and below the screen with a web-cam in the centre of the top space.

There is 2cm clear either side and behind the keyboard with 9cm clear in front, the 12x8cm trackpad is mounted centrally in this area. Towards the right edge just below the last keyboard key is the finger print sensor. The 84 key keyboard has full size alpha and numeric keys.

The processor is an Intel Core Ultra 7 running at 1.4GHz. There is 32GB RAM and there is a 1TB SSD (around 830GB available when new). The screen shows 1920x1080 the default setting is 150%. It comes with Windows 11 Pro V23H2.

Shutdown to blank screen is 4 seconds and 17 sec boot up once setup.

By default the supplied A/V software works for 12 months but once you register it you get another three months, so 15 months in all for no payment for the HP Wolf Security.

I was more than happy with this notebook as little extra things like the free A/V do not come with most notebooks. The i7 processor worked well as indeed did having 32GB RAM so everything ran smoothly.

One speed test I always think shows the speed of the unit is the reinstall 'to new' before returning the unit, in the past this often went to several hours now with most recent units you are talking in minutes here it was 16 mins.

The HP Firefly 14inch G11 Workstation PC is available from the link below for £1599.99.
