Usually when confronted by one of the many Hidden Object based puzzle offerings based on overseas locations, the product takes me somewhere I have never visited personally. However with this next offering from Lazy Turtle Games' Amazing Vacation series, I am taken me back to a location that I have visited in real life. Unfortunately the Lazy Turtle depiction of Miami bore no relationship to my recollection of my actual visit to this holiday resort and my stay at the hotel from which the Frank Sinatra television show was broadcast on a regular basis.
Classified as a Hidden Object game, Lazy Turtle Amazing Vacation Miami title allows you to opt to tackle the game in relaxed untimed mode or be challenges to complete tasks within 10 or 3 minute time restrictions as you search the various locations featured. Other available adjustments include setting volume levels for background music and sound effects plus the use of a hardware cursor for selecting items.
With the Lazy Turtle vacation to Miami, you can visit 20 different locations to test your Hidden Object searching skills. Stretched out in a linked chain, these locations include attractions such as the Miami Zoo, Coral Reef, Key West, Biscayne National Park and a Railroad Museum. Once some initial progress has been made, you can generally be selective as to the order in which you take a look of the different locations. Each location will contain a variety of items from which you will be required to find up to 115 designated objects.
With each location you are permitted to select the manner in which the required items will be presented. You could opt to see the items listed in standard text format, as silhouettes, in jumbled word format with the item's initial letter being capitalised to assist you or in a mirrored format as the required items name is shown in reverse. Whatever mode or format you opt for, the items will be shown six at a time. To assist you in your search for the required items, you will be issued with a recharging Hint feature and a magnifier to zoom into screen areas for a closer look in search of items.
The game will reward you with stars for completing each location search. Unfortunately I was unable to find any use for the rewarded stars. I was disappointed with the product but at least I still have the admitted fading memories of my actual trip to Miami. You can download this title from Gamehouse.com where it is priced at $9.99. The game is also available from Big Fish Games priced at £7.80. The game requires a 1.0 GHz processor with 512MB of RAM and 180MB of hard disk space running Windows 7 and later.
