Time is the subject matter under consideration of this next offering from the Grandma catalogue of titles. Appearing as "Reflection of Life - The Shattered Timeline", this offering is a Hidden Object Adventure game. It places you in the role of assisting Grace of the Order of Guardians. You will be required to assist in the quest to save the Celestial Sisters and restore the damage caused to time by the activities of an evil powerful being.
Available in Collector's Edition format, which bundled several elements with the main game, you have the choice of playing this adventure game in Casual, Advanced, Hardcore or Custom difficulty level. As a result of the break up of a special artefact, the Celestial Sisters, consisting of Dawn, Day, Dusk and Night, are unable to carry out their duty of controlling the movement of the sun and moon plus the flow of time.
Featuring backdrops of well-drawn series of mysterious world locations and impressive buildings with eye-catching animations, you are given access to certain tools arranged across the bottom of the screen. A Journal will hold information and images of various actions while a Task option will relate the current tasks and those completed recently. An Inventory, which can be locked in position or left to disappear when not required immediately, will display those items you have collected. A Map tool comes next but, rather than the more common geographic style of areas, this map shows the route you will need to follow when achieving tasks. The game's Hint feature will be in the form of an owl which can be sent to reach areas out of your normal reach.
With numerous tasks, spread over various locations, needing to be completed, you will need to rescue the individual Celestial Sisters and help others deal with the disruption caused by the effects of the broken artefact. When meeting other characters, including the Sisters, they will be displayed overlaid on the current location. Their dialogue will be delivered by voice actors and also printed on the screen.
While searching for the Sisters, you will be required to carry out specific tasks that include finding a magical flower or fighting off a fire-breathing dragon attacks. Having achieved the necessary progress in the rescue of each individual Sister, you will be presented with a section of the artefact which will need to be unlocked with the correct code sequence. This will grant access to a link map that will involve the creation of an appropriate constellation that will reveal a mirror giving access to the next stage of your search.
Mixed in with the general search and find tasks are a collection of Hidden Object action and mini game puzzles. Identified by an outbreak of sparkles, Hidden Object game play could ask you o search of items listed in text format, as silhouettes or parts of the scene. These items might be located in a single or group of scenes that are only revealed when a special filter is applied. If the Hidden Object action does not appeal then you could select to switch to Match 3 game play.
A wide variety of tasks will need to be faced when tackling mini game puzzles. You might need to repeat a colour sequence or swap gems and swords to produce the correct arrangement. Elements in a circle will need to be arranged while a pathway to make progress will be among the other types of puzzles. In some cases you will be given the option of selecting the Easy or Hard version of the puzzle.
Having completed the main game by reforming the artefact and reuniting the Sisters, you will be allowed access to a pair of addition games as you tackle Panacea and Balance offerings. This grandma title can be downloaded from Gamehouse.com where it is priced at $19.99 or from Big Fish Games priced at £15.29. The game requires a 1.8 GHz processor with 1024MB of RAM and 892MB of hard disk space running Windows 7 and later.
